So I thought I would do a thread about my car. For help and suggestions.

So It started pretty much bang on 2 years ago, last weekend. I had my cheese delivered from a friend who owned it 4 years. Cheese then spent the first few months only being used at weekends or to take my parents out, was still on a provisional licence. Then a few months later I started my driving lessons after a few trips out. After passing my test in June, my exercise of cycling to work 6 miles daily turned to walking to my car and driving to the corner shop.

Since I have bought the car, I have only done minor things. Changed the radiator, fitted air-horns, replaced air-horns(broken again) Clutch cable. Also have done the rear brakes, repainted the dash, mounted a satnav in the dash. Also gone through 2 head units, a set of front seats, repainted the rear archs(inside).

I think I have taken it to something like 3/4 events, and a couple of club meetings. One night driving to and from blackpool in the rain, work out as 300 miles. Then to get lost in black pools one way system.

Things I need to do, Lower it, clean it, swap looms put a 16v in, and take the sei rims off.

Love it. But I am bias because bar the wheels and lack of spoiler it's the same as mine.

What is the blue thing stuffed in the dash?

That would be a rat wearing a jumper.


Edit, got grey sporting front seats, and all plasric trim including a dashboard sat in living room. just not had time to sort it.

On another note, does anyone have the trim from a sporting bumper, the bends and like gaping thing.

While I have my sporting speedo out, what is the best way to make it glow white, rather than the green? Also where do I need to solder to for a 16v conversion?

Going to take over my brothers bedroom now he has moved out to work on parts I can do inside.

What springs should I buy for my cinq, Being a daily drive It needs to be comfy enough so I don't need to buy a new back, but firm enough for an engine transplant. Had new shocks about this time last year.

Was thinking of something like 30 or 40mm.

30 or 40 will lower by more or less the same, with yours being an 899, it'll be quoted at like 60mm lowering or something.

Your ride will suffer whatever you do, and so will your shocks if they're standard! 300ish will buy you proper uprated dampers and springs.

I'm selling some coilovers soon, if you're interested. The ride is pretty good, I'll check in the rear lowering springs too.

So I cleaned my car last weekend and it's filthy already. So I decided to make it look stupid and fill it with LEDs

Also in the news, I got even more parts for it, some new rims thanks @Cento186 and even painted the sporting trim, needs another coat of paint maybe 2 coats of laquer and then put it on. After this weekend I am starting dismantle the car, rewire, put a sporting dash in. Clean it, again. deal with any rust and underseal. Sound proof if money arrives and then sit in it making zoom zoom noises.

Few quick questions which braces fit a 16v, heard mpis fit or is it a job of making one?
What have other people had problems with except for fuel money, and trouble with excessive smiling?

By braces do you mean engine mounts? If so any 1108 cinq mounts will fit.

Answer to the suspension question, I have a 40mm drop on sporting spec. Not to bumpy, still a bit rough on the big bumps though. On standard shocks they have never bottomed out yet.

Why are you going 16v. I take it its 899 at the mo? 1242 8v is quite a bit of an improvement.

Remember seeing this at the trafford centre meet in october i think it was. Did you manage to wire that sat nav into the dash?

By braces, I mean like an upper and lower braces. Got the engine mounts sorted.

Should be riding the same height as yourself huwbishop, 40mm sporting drop, Yes it's a 899 at the moment, all the engine no go, or atleast very little. going for a 16v because I like to brag about having more valves, haha. If I were going to do a 1.2 8v I might be inclined to try and turbo it. which I'm pretty sure I would bugger up.

And yea, I got the satnav mounted. can bee seen in the picture of dashboard in car, I don't actually have a photo of it since then. I'll get one when it's daylight.

So today I wanted to work on my cento, but seen as the tractor will be providing funds for it I started stripping parts off.

Had the fuel pump off, lift pump removed, injectors out and exhaust manifold off.

Rest is going to a friends for parts. It'll be missed

Also, bet that marshal would run even after being stored awhile. Very tidy, do you use them or are they just there?

they are not mine to let you, i think my landlord might get very upset if people turned up and started messing with his tractors!!! lol
