Clonking noise

My car has started to make a clonking noise from the front it only happens when in a low gear sometimes only makes it once when you set off from rest, but some times if you leave to car to roll with clutch out and dont accelerate it will make a clonk with every full turn of the wheel?

Read through pete FAQ and it could be engine or gear box mount.

What is the best way to test and find out if it is this and if not what else could be wrong with it?

TIA

James

Summit stuck in the grooves on your brake discs?

otherwise could be driveshaft probs, but not too sure.

Pete.

Lift the bonnet and try to move the engine by pushing it back and forward. it should be stiff but if there's excessive movement, 1 or more of the mounts may be shot. Best to do this with the car on ramps and you'll be able to get a look at the gearbox mount while you do it. Mine had a clonk and vibration when accellerating, found the gearbox mount shot and exhaust was hitting the anti-roll bar.

Hope that helps
