My first ever door build is now finished!

Got them covered last light, I think I'm going to redo them in vinyl but I thought I'd show you all what I've got done.

So, from standard Sei door, to this (door mould and modded bin):



Then the finished article:





Not bad for a first attempt, but I think it'll look better covered in vinyl.

i would have kept some storage space, looks good though, need somewhere to stuff the cd boxes in!

Are you going to put it inside the bin?

isnt the bin part of the pod?
nice work but as said before i would had saved/created storage space.
thinking of doing something similar on the cinq but had thought of doing it the other way and building it up the door to allow mounting of the tweeter further up the door

Will be recovering at some point to make it look more "factory"

The bin is part of the pod (see first pic!), mounted to a fibreglass mould of the door. An 18mm MDF ring is fixed in place and fleece, covered in resin covers the whole lot to create the enclosure.

I used the entire bin to get as much low end response as possible. Most modern cars use the door as an enclosure and as such get good bass from the factory speaker. In the Sei / Cinq, you can't use the door so that's why I used the whole bin, filled with some wadding and Dynamat Xtreme.

makes sense,still miss my storage though
in the turbo cinq the ashtray is replaced by a fuel mixture meter,really miss somewhere to dump the mobile and loose change

Not fussed about storage, my aim is to get the best sound out of it I can.

The next storage space to be taken up? The boot!

2 tens, 2 amps and the crossovers for the front comps. Was going to put the crossovers in the doors, but a: They're huge and b: If I go active on the front end, I've got all the wiring in place.

I hate the bins TBH, only goood for empty cans and I don't keep my cds on display for pikeys to half inch.

I either do door builds like Paul or get a rollcage! Hmmmmm!

What, knackered? LOL!

Hopefully I'll be popping out in my dinner hour to a local upholsters to see if they've got anything better to cover them with. Would like it to be the same material as the door card, but it'll more than likely be some dark grey vinyl.

you dont realise it but the bins actually get missed will get pics up of my door pods later today could always copy what my cars got for components, the speakers in pods and then tweeters behind the factory grilles

Tweeters behind the grilles was one option, I might make a pod for them to go on the pillar, it all depends on where they sound the best. I'll mount them on blutack and position them in different areas to see.

get the pics up ghost as im looking to build something up soon.hoping to start this weekend

Got some stretchy vinyl from local car upholster, £8 for a metre plus some top tips on how to do it.

So a retrim tonight should have them looking
