Are they supposed to light up along with the other dashboard switches?

Yes they do (I have '95 cinq S). One of the bulbs was out when I bought mine last year... Be careful when replacing the bulb - if you push the holder into the dash, it's a bugger to put it back! (I found out the hard way)
