As far as the throttle bodie goes I have to repeat something that fixit wrote:

(but will be helpful i.r.o. future mods like camshaft etc)
and you should mod. the throttle body as fixittomorrow wrote in one post

as for the camshaft you might have luck finding one from a Punto 75 to use

But best for the buck is just to get a complete Punto 60 SPI Engine and swap it

So then the best way forward to do an 899 to 1242 would be to get hold of a Punto 60, have everything out of its engine bay, and install that into the Cinq?

yes and no. You need cinq sporting driveshafts, gearbox, engine mounts, exhaust, coolant hoses, starter motor, alternator for starters. If you're going from an 899 you would do well to get a Punto 60 ecu, but check that there's no cross-overs in the wiring from the two cars. It's much more tricky turning an 899 into a 1242 than if you're starting with an 1108.

Alright then.. Is there any way I could stick a 1242 or other similarly sized engine into the space occuplied by the 900cc lump with relative ease??

By Easy- I meant drop slow one out, slot fast new one in, eg: 1108-->1242.

Possible, BUT, you'll need to make sure it doesn't have the immobiliser built-in or your car is a no-go when you turn the key

Hey, check this..

The Sporting Cinq, Punto and other models of Cing share the same ECU from 1995!!

Check: http://www.atpelectronics.demon.co.uk/Catalogue/fiat.htm#Fiat Engine Management ECU`s
They all use a Marelli-Weber 16F SPi system.
My 93' Cinq uses a Marelli-Weber 6F System.

Given the wiring for a Sporting Cinq is the same as the std. Cinq, and the Punto, Cinq and Sporting all use the same ECU, I think it could be a straight swap...at least for me to install a Sporting ECU.

Im assuming that the codes in the column next to that are different year versions of the ECU.

But a 94-96 Punto uses a 6F System - The same as the Cinq between 93-95!!
