Wassup guys

So for a while now my steering has been unbalanced (right heavier than left)

Its got slightly worse recently and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. :)

Its a 2000 sie sx spi w/ power steering, cheers!

Usual issue of the power steering motor giving up. Need to fix now before it gives up. Mine, back in 2001 used to suddenly seize trying to turn right, but freed immediately if tweaked left then right again. The motor was replaced under warranty then as system was new.

Have a look at these guys and talk to them. If nearby, you could visit, if you can remove the column yourself and send it you can save some pennies. You'll be without your car for a few days, but better than in a ditch.

You could try Ebay for new/used/refurbished ones, or Google for anyone nearer you who can repair. On newer vehicles, ECU controller needs to be matched to car, so better to repair original. Not sure about yours, but Western Power Steering will probably know.

Im near Eastbourne in east Sussex if anyone is near.

Hmm, that doesn't sound pretty! Quite a known issue then. Strange.

Cheers!

It could be the power steering or it might be something as simple as the tracking being out. So before forking out a small fortune get the tracking checked. If it is out it will turn in one way easier than the other.

Thanks for the heads up ouby, will get the tracking checked in the next couple of days as low on money.

Cheers!

Also down Eastbourne end. Had this problem the other week. Had it fixed and it turned out to be tracking

i recently brought my son a seicento 2001 1.1cc and it seems its to be lighter to steer to the left than it does to the right (as well its still over heating in traffic but i think thats due to the fan not working or maybe the water pump as the head gasket and the thermostat have been done and its been bled) but my main concern is the steering any ideas what it could be anyone , i have read they have electric power steering and that it plays up and even heard it can lock up completely causing the car to left steering the way it locked up, this is a big concern.

Update
Took it in to get tracking done and it was miles out , but they noticed that when you turn the car on and start it that the steering wheel goes left on its own so thinking it could be the power steering now . Does anyone know if its possible to just replace the motor (im hoping thats the problem) or if i would need to replace the whole rack

The steering motor is near the top of the column, below the dash. The rack is unaffected.
If it steers left on its own, the torque sensor in the motor could need calibrating, or it could indicate that the rack has been adjusted one side only, so was offset. Need to start by ensuring rack is central and both track rods are equal length.

Have a browse in the Panda section about steering. Easiest solution is to replace the whole steering unit, but that costs.
Talk to these people: https://www.fiatforum.com/western-power-steering/342222-panda-electric-power-steering-problems.html

It is possible to replace the torque sensor, as long as you can identify and source it, threads in the Panda section will show how. Cheaper, but more involved. Needs calibrating afterwards. MultiECUscan software, a PC laptop, and some leads are needed. Search for MultiECUscan for help there.

it seems it is the motor but its gonna cost way more than the cars worth so just gonna use and pray it doesn't lock up
