Thanks to centojosh I now have a set of sporting alloys for my Sei active. Tonight I tried fitting them to the car, fitted driver side front, went on ok, however when I drove the car to turn it around to put the passenger side on, I could hear a knocking. I think it was the balancing weight catching the front shock as there was hardly any clearance on it.

Can I please have suggestions how I can solve this please as I am desperate as the tyres on the steel wheels are about end of life.

Many Thanks

Hi Take the balance weight off and get them re balanced with stick on weights, but first jack the car up and turn the wheel by hand to check, sounds odd to me because I have sporting alloys on mine with no problem ???

Here are pictures on the said wheels ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1414833845.530593.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1414833866.920625.jpg

Ok in all not much has changed apart from all the alloy wheels are now on the car I did go halfords an buy some 3mm spacers but they are too big! I will take a picture for you to see tomorrow. I am currently driving without the spacers and it does seem fine however a Machanic at my local fiat dealership recommended I put some spacers on.

I'm currently running Nankang toursport 611 165/55/13 what do you think about them can't say I've heard of them before

Many thanks

You'll probably find that someone breaking a cento sporting has the OE 3mm ones. Alternatively, Alfa 155s used 6mm ones (get the spire bolts, too!) but you'll probably need longer bolts. You might even find they're still available new.

I'd (strongly) advise against any universal spacers -- they'll generally cause all kinds of imbalance issues.

Never used them in earnest: some folk recon the later Nankangs are better than the OE Pirellis, the earlier ones were slated as ditchfinders.

Ming is probably the 13" tyre expert.

it really really shouldn't need any spacing at all... we need pics of this clearance i think, as it really should not be an issue at all and in my head the only way you could have issues on them wheels is if the suspension geometry is all out of kilter. Ignore the fact yours in not a sporting for a moment as there is no difference bar 20mm higher, these wheels are designed for this car and seicento's never had any spacers unless they had the 14 abarth wheels fitted.

Spacers may help but there should be no need for it in the first place...

Are your sure it's the weights touching the shock? And not a stick on weight catching the caliper as it goes round? As I know there's is like a fag paper clearance between the wheel and caliper

I've been driving around now with the alloys on and it seems ok, I think it was just me being a little over cautious when fitting them, as it was the clip on weight smacking something, that has now been resolved.

Thank you all for your input, I am finding the Nankang toursport 611 165/55/13 are a little to how do I say this a tad slippery in the wet. Could someone suggest a tyre that won't rape my wallet?

Thank you very much all.

Price wise the two cheapest options would be the newer Nankang AS1 at roughly £35 each or the Maxxis MA-Z1 ar roughly £60 each.

I've not yet tried the new Nankangs but I'm a big fan of the Maxxis, much better in the wet and the tread pattern looks good

pretty sure my old turbo wears nankang as1 these days... i have not driven it though so can't really comment. Really not that many options available, even less in 13 than 14 too.

I did notice the other day that toyo have started doing their CF1 tyre in 185/50/14 which is meant to be a good tyre

Just to clarify I am also rocking the sei rims on my cinq, had the problem of tire weights.
Took it to my friend and got them balanced properly. with stick ons.
