Jasons car uses some kind of GT17 hybrid. 170+ bhp (with water/methanol injection).

I think he still has the car (although he's generally crawling under Volvos).

Still waiting for my test drive!

Im aiming for 140 with what I have... ill have to have a word with jason about his gt17 and see if hes willing to let me in on his secret lol.. I think eventually if I can get 150 reliably ill be a happy chappy..

As you guys can probs tell im still learning alot at the moment.. trying to sort out a few odds and sods.. but progress will be made lol

1.7 bar explains the need for a huge intercooler, the air must be steam hot at this pressure on such a small turbo.

Craig is right - pushing the boost on a small turbo helps little. I have 0.8 bar and 1 bar maps on my EBC. On 1 bar it feels like the whole setup is just struggling, there is more power, true, but it feels as if there should be more but it escapes somewhere... I really really prefer to drive on the 0.8 bar setting.

BTW, since when did you guys started measuring things in bars :D

Currently going through the options I have for a head for this.. ive got a wdr p75 head thats obviously been skimmed past its max markers and has also had a little taken off the tips of the valves

however, its been ported and all the combustion chambers have been opend up and polished aswel as the usual valve job ect ect... also it has a matching inlet mani thats also been opened up and matched ...just looking at it at the moment.. would it be possible to use this head?? Obviously with it being skimmed its going to have raised the cr but then openingup the chambers has effectively lowered it again?? Or maybe if I were to get a decomp plate made up or just a thicker headgasket maybe?? Ill take a pic and upload but it seems a waste to just.. not use it

I also have a bog standard p75 head thats in good condition and just needs a skim and a cam, I have a 866 in one of my boxes of bits that I was planning on using but I really need to work out which head would be best.. but I dont want to be spending £500+ on modding the standard one when I have one thats pretty good already

cheers

im still in the process of repolishing the chambers as you can see and the valves are getting the same treatment

cheers

If you're going MPI (and it makes sense to), no reason why not, especially with the 16v pistons. I think you'll still be well safe. Still, the only way to be sure is to get the burette out.

You'll have to knock up a plenum chamber, but if you use the P75 fuel rail you can use standard length Bosch injectors.

Yea the whole build is based on a p75 buddy :) and was always going to be mpi, do you mean safe as in not needing to worry about the decomp plate or meaning its a good idea to use a decomp plate

edit: I plan on having both the block and both heads measured and report back :)

16v Pistons drop the CR to 7.8:1 ish.

Definitely plenty low enough to run decent boost. But the lower the CR, the worse the off boost performance.

Ideal cr Is 8.1:1 I think I read somewhere??

So maybe its possible to use the skimmed head.. worst case I supoose itll blow a gasket.. or a piston :p

At the moment im planning on using the plastic 899 bob on the p75 inlet however I will be looking into a better more permanent solution if james will give me the dimensions of his one :p

My old turbo sei has had its GT15 hybrid'd but not sure on the specs of it.. I'll ask next time i talk to him but the company that did it said it would happily run 25psi all day long without being stressed by it (its controlled by electronic boost control with 4 different settings). It also has a massive fmic and he has increased the size of all the boost pipes (2" i think) and water sprayers on the intercooler and water/meth injection. It goes well, certainly much quicker than when i had it.

So now im at a point where I need to know what to order for the megasquirt.. can anyone give me some pointers on what I need?? Vr?? Trigger wheel patterns?? Its fun stuff lol....

basically I want the ms2 from what I understand.. I want solanoid boost control, launch control and anti-lag, switchable maps, i plan on using the vvt injectors so will that be a contributing factor?? i assume the 2.5bar 'standard' map sensor will be adequate for max boost of 1.2 bar, ill be using the twin coil system thats standard on 8v centos, I want to use as many of the standard sensors that I possibly can,

is tgere anything else I need to look into (apart from actually buying a laptop so I can program it ect lol...)

How big of a deal is installing the ms2 and how much of the current loom (8v sporting or the p75 I have both) can I use for the new ms loom?? How in depth is the programming??

Wow thats alot of questions for one post, id appreciate some help with this as its something I really want to learn more about, amd obviously the more I know the better/easier it will be to install

cheers in advance

Really, best asked on one of the Megasquirt forums.

As someone pointed out, the big issue with Open Source stuff is that the documentation tends to lag behind the software/hardware.

Cat see any reason why you shouldn't use the existing trigger wheel -- 60-2 -- after all, you already have it.

Programming? Not really -- you'll have to calibrate some of the sensors, then map it. (Graphical screen, just like everything else aftermarket.) This isn't programming in the sense of writing C code......

It will need to go on a rolling road, though, for mapping.

Cheap laptop should be fine.
