Hi

Seicento Sporting SPI 2000

My Sei rarely carries more than me, occasional one passenger.
It does a lot of local runs (shops) and a fair bit of fetching and carrying
of stuff...

If next Spring I remove the back seats and seat belts and put in a plywood floor, would this affect anything (MOT/insurance)? or can I just go ahead and do it..

Phil

I think the MOT folk would still want to test the seatbelt anchorage points.

Your insurance would like to know.

Right...
I'll check with the local guy who does my MOT when I'm next down there.
Could always leave the seat belts in and make the floor easily removable..

Or, buy a van :D

Phil

Fingers is right. MOT tester would purely check to make sure the area is not corroded or weak.
But if you take it in with no back seats then it will be tested as a 2 seater, simple as that.
When I had a old Suzuki vitara and it failed on a dodgy rear seat belt I simply removed the seats.
job done

insurance could go down.. its less people you can kill if you crash - its not something i would do now i'm a bit older, i like the sound deadening of the rear seats in a cento.. but one of my old cento's i did remove all teh rear seats and trim etc and my insurance went down when i told them

Interesting.......

Sound deadening isn't a problem, my old ears are getting deafer year on year so upshot is my Sei sounds quieter as time moves on :D

Was going to do the same thing as you myself a few years ago. Used some shorter bolts to plug the seat belt mounting holes (-stops water coming in!) untill i sorted out some brackets for straps/netting & all the MOT guy did was put down 'rear seats removed' on the advisory section.
As blu pointed out removing the seats does make a heck of a difference to the noise level, get yourself some gel backed carpet or put sound deadening insulation under the new floor - your ears will thank you.
