Got some homework to do, Which threads are the most complete for how what and why.

Possiblility of working on a 899. Heard that I may need to swap most of the front end to that of a 1108 gearbox and that.

What other mods should I start sourcing, the engine is probably going to get worked on before going in.

Definatly lowering not sure how much yet, still got to go over speed bumps, got some steep ones near where I live, also, will probably be on gravel, and grass time to time.

This is not going to be a high performance race car, still going to be used as a day to day car, which will often be stuffed full of gardening equipment.

The reason for the engine change is because when I load up with all my junk I just stuggle to get up hills and what not.

Cheers in advance, Matt.

sporting mounts wiring etc plenty to get threads will cover this easily if not drop a message on facebook of the and il tell you what i know having gone 899/1108/to 16v in one car already, lowering wise want some but not much get sporting suspension all round would be an idea so becomes 20mm drop,40 is safe for alot of towns really

Will a sie sporting front end bolt in place, still need cinq sporting mounts right?

Also will the wiring from the sie sporting be any good it is a spi.

Cheers Matt.

Had a quick gander for mings thread last night, couldn't find it, shall look again later.

However while at the scrappers today, I started removing everything, gearbox drive shafts, and what not. Noticed that someone had beaten me to it, there is no steering. Are the 899, the same as then I will just put those back on after a clean up and service

Yep steering is the same on all except Seis with pas have more castor from the top mounts and a quicker rack (think its 1 turn lock to lock). Just don't forget to get the plate from the scrapper on the ds chassis leg that the engine mount bolts to

From what I have also been told, I can just use the original 899 steering on my cinq. Still need the mounts and mk1 inlet, would love to get this conversion before christmas, but think it will have to wait till jan/feb. Be a fab thing to have while off. but hey ho.

So I spent another hour and a half at the wreckers today, found a 16v bravo with a cable throttle, so getting the inlet off of that tomorrow. Also started strpping out the engine wiring, am I right in thinking that this should be the same as a mk1 punto things?

mpi sei doesn't have a separate engine loom though..

There is a few different ways to do your wiring as yours is an 899 (an i assume a non immobiliser as well). I myself would just rip the entire loom out of it and stick a cinq sporting/sei spi sporting sporting body loom in and use a punto mk1 16v engine loom.

Sure there will be people who say i am mad but really in my view this is easier than messing about splicing 2 looms that were never meant to go together into one frankenstein loom, and probably end up much tidier install as well, and will be easy to drop an 8v back in if you one day so desire.

Think I'm going to go with what blu said here. Entirely because I know what hides under the dash of mine, and it's not pretty.. Also when I put my dash back in not long back, I forgot to keep the clock wire at the top....

While we are on the subject of it, does anyone have a sporting loom, or a sporting dash and trim kicking around?

Also need to get some sporting mounts.
