Hello there knowledgeable people of the forum. Has anyone heard / done an engine swap on a seicento using the mpi inlet manifold onto an 1.2 8v spi engine at all?

Struggling to find any information on this one!

That was quick! I have an 1108 mpi sei and a 1242 spi engine, just discovered a crack in the block where the bottom bolt for the engine mount. I want to do the conversion but wanted to try and avoid all the messing around with wiring.

With your spi 1242 you will need to swap the head (ports are a different shape too, so even if you can make the inlet fit it probably won't run right), you'll need to run your mpi pulleys, therefore need to swap the rocker cover (for cam sensor) and probably your oil pump so the crank sensor lines up correctly. There won't be a hole for your knock sensor so that will have to be fitted lower down on the block.

On the other hand an mpi engine will drop straight in. Unless you completely convert your car to spi I'm pretty sure you cannot run the spi inlet.
 
You may be lucky -- I think some late SPI 1242 blocks had the boss for the knock sensor. Not really sure what running without one (or without it actually mounted to anything, but electrically hooked up) would do -- presumably, unless it senses knock, it does nothing? Might be possible to make a boss in the right place with JB Weld?
 
I have personally fitted a 1242 8v mpi (P75 Motor) into a Mk2 Sei Mpi before and I will be honest here, its more hassle than its worth so with that in mind fitting a P60 motor will be even more hassle and less of a reward. don't do it, just get another 1108 mpi or go 16v.
