I've stripped down my 1.2 8v block ready to rebuild it but I'm having trouble removing the dipstick tube from the block I need it out so I can get to the core plug behind it. Is the tube a screw in or push fit?

Also I have all the Pistons and rods out and weighed so that I can match them. How do they seperate or don't they. I've got 2 assemblies exact 1 is 10 grams heavier and another 6 grams out so was going to seperate to see if it was the piston or rod that's out

The block is a 188.a4 from a mk2 punto mpi

If you must separate, heat and hydraulic press. But you'd be wise to take to your local engine rebuilder: if you ask nicely they'll let you see how it's done.

Not sure about the dip stick tube.

Thanks I thought that was the case. So I'll lece it togeather and balance the assembly am I right in thinking that it's best to take the weight out of the rod in the centre? The dipstick tube is puzzling me I'll have another crack at it

I'd leave the rods alone -- there's always a chance of introducing stress risers. Pistons?

Thanks. All done on the balancing side crank and assembly was done with flywheel. Got the Pistons rods and caps to within a gram of each other they were fairly balanced anyway only needed a bit off
