Hi all,

My mums 899 seicento to me seems a little thirsty for fuel, well compared to my 1.1 seicento anyway.

£10 of fuel from the bottom of the red takes the gauge to about 1/4 and will last around 60 miles till it's at the bottom of the red again. Is this about right? Around town driving with the occasional 3 mile dual carriageway run.

To £10 in my 1.1 sei I can do around 100-130 miles if driven sensibly.

I've included a picture of mums dash to show , any thoughts as I would of thought the 899's would of done better then the 1108's? I know £10 doesn't give a lot of fuel I'm just comparing it to my sei'a eco.

Cheers

Martyn

Need to do some full tank to full tank comparison so that you can properly calculate mpg, but it's probably got a lot more to do with driving style than anything else. Also I would expect the 1.1 to be more economical than the 899 as you don't need to push it quite so hard to get anywhere.

Hi buddy it's been me driving it recently so the driving style is pretty much the same, with pushing it harder to get anywhere I can understand but I don't rev it no more then I do I'm my 1.1.

Driving to work and back, I get the same, £10 for 60 miles. When I drove to manchester, I got 160 miles to £15.

I have a fuel tank leak, and if I fill more than half a tank then It leaks, but that is about £10 for abit more than a quater tank.

as suggested already, need to do some full tank comparisons to get remotely accurate figures. If you are that bothered about it brim the tank in both cars to point the pump clicks off once. reset the odometer counter

Drive about until close to empty, and then brim the tanks again - note down the distance travelled and the amount of fuel you just stuck in. Then use that to workout the mpg over the tank.

I would also expect the 1108 to use slightly less than the 899 but on a full tank i would be expecting both to do 300+ miles easily unless you spend ALOT of time in traffic

Christ a tenner buys u a gallon and a half at most places anyway thats 70 to the gallon hrist mine gets nowhere near that I get 75 milez for a tenner steady driving 100 - 130 seems to me alot or is mine ****e on fuel

When I go round roundabouts, the fuel gauge goes from half-full to completely empty and then back up again, am I the only one?

How far can you go on a full tank before you dare not drive past a garage is a more important figure.
Aparently 35 miles on a tank reading empty was too far.

As for cornering, my fuel light would come on if you looked at a corner. So it was removed, just go off of the gauge, and milage.

Just wondering do you drive like your stole your mom's car..
Here (maybe it's the whether) most of the 899 have a better fuel efficiency than the 1108. Just don't drive it Iike a rally car. ;)

Best way I've found of doing it is fill the car till pump clicks off. Drive a decent journey and fill it till it clicks again. That gives you litres used (get a receipt)

Then use google maps or similar to work out the miles. You could just use the odometer but they're inaccurate (especially between cars/wheel tyre size) so best not.

Do maths

As others have said my experience is that the 900 was less fuel efficient than the bigger engines as you are basically obliged to drive everywhere flat out.
