Getting down my list of jobs nicely now and must admit I've mainly enjoyed
getting down and dirty with my little Sei

Next job is to replace thermostat/water pump/ metal water pipe/ cam belt and tensioner and alternator belt.
I've read and re read all the guides on here (thanks guys) and I'm pretty confident I can get those jobs done.
Just wondered if there are any gotchas that might be worth me knowing about.
Mucking up the timing worries me a bit but I reckon with care, it'll be fine.

Biggest worry is the bolt holding the metal pipe bracket is very rusted.
I'm giving it plenty of GT-85 soakings whilst waiting for the bits to arrive but if that snaps I'm in a deep mess...

Anyhoo, fingers crossed, it will move...

Oh and I got a couple of 400ml tins of GT-85 for £3.00 each on offer in Halfords today. (y)

yep its easy the cambelt on these and its non-interference engine so no worries if you do mess up, just take it off and try again - nothing will break.

I've never snapped that metal water pipe bolt yet, if you have been soaking it for a while already i'm sure it will be ok but if your really worried a bit of heat always helps bolts and nuts undo ;)

Cheers guys(y)

Regarding the metal pipe, I see that the end with the rubber seal
shoves into the back of the water pump housing...

Does the rubber seal need anything on it...Hylomar Blue or whatever?
I'm getting my bits from Mick and it looks like the pipe will come with the
better double seal...

Thanks....
I'll put a bit on.

Good news is I tried the metal pipe bolt today and it moved which is good..
Just waiting for parts now ready for the big job.
Tinkered today putting wiring in for a dash mounted (bodged) temperature
guage. Got the +/- from the tacho and the sender cable threaded through. That's now waiting for the aly 30mmpipe for the sender...

Seems I've developed a semi permanent line of black gunge under and round my finger nails....does that mean I'm no longer a total novice:D

Bit more done today...
Fitted the new metal water pipe. Easy to get off but what a bleep to get the
new one on.
Lubed the rubber gasket but after heaving it, I still had 2mm to go.
Fashioned a wooden wedge between pipe bracket and bell housing and it tapped nicely into position...

Got the 30mm sender pipe fitted into the top hose and that's all now running
with a temperature gauge on the dash....
Next job....water pump/timing belt...:)
