Right got the ECU code this morning which is the Magneti Marelli code
6160050704.F
which translates to the following
IAW59F.M7
the new owner decided to threaten me that i give his money back (which i don't have) or repair the car..
so im going to order this and pray to god its the ECU even though when it dies its still running on 4 cylinders and gets no fuel or spark..

ive been on the phone with various people and they suspect the ECU as many of these units failed, but its only when its HOT-literally past the point of caring just don't fancy this bloke coming round with a brick...
ill update when the units here and hope he hasn't smashed my windows

Update:
tested the spark with an inline spark plug light
got the car very hot so that the problem was evident
gurgling and starved of fuel. across both coils we had a spark
making me now think the fuel pump is naff? surely if it were the lambda sensor it would throw up a fault code...
