Hi everyone,

The other night it had been raining quite a bit and I went round a mini roundabout in 1st gear in my Seicento. I gave it a little too much throttle as I came off the rounabout and the wheels spun, and the whole car died completely. All battery-powered things worked such as interior lights, hazards, etc, but the ignition was completely useless, turning the key did nothing at all.

I found a small fusebox behind the battery, and replaced the ignition fuse which had blown (40 amp).

Last night I did it again, it had been raining quite a lot and I wanted to see if it was the wheelspin which caused it, and surprise surprise the wheels spun and the car died again.

What could be causing this? I have a black box fitted into the car directly from the ignition block.

Cheers,
Wheeless

You do realise that the black box is logging wheelspin (or trying to). :bang: The idea is that you don't behave like a hooligan and get rewarded as a result.

My guess is that the fitment is less than perfect (not uncommon).

I've never wheelspun it "down" a road, the first time when I blew the fuse was an accident (the black box wouldn't have logged that anyway seeing as it lost all power when the fuse blew) and the second time was only to see if that was the problem.

What should I do with regards to the fitment?

Scream at the insurance company. Explain what's happened and the they've broken your car!

They'll send someone out, but I'd be inclined to have their work run through by a competent auto electrian.

So get the insurance company to send a technician out and then get an electrician to take a look at it? Or the other way round?
