Hi all
Just done my first car trial in the seicento near Bridgenorth with Wolverhampton and South Staffs car club.
Had a good morning on the first 16 hills in the morning, it was a bit damp so the Nankangs we're struggling for grip.
After lunch I nearly cleared the first hill scoring only 2 penalty points but I stuffed the front spoiler into an earth bank and the tiny self tapping screw which secures the stone guard mesh at the front went straight through the radiator so I had to retire. Talk about bad design, the sharp point of the screw is only an inch from the front face of the rad!
I've done a temporary repair with a bit of crimping and some superglue but if anyone's got one I need a rad. It got me 50 miles home at least.
I'm also after a couple of steel wheels for the front if anybody got any, even better with a nice pair of Mentor remoulds on
I'm in Tamworth and don't mind driving 30 miles or so to pick up - please PM me if you've got anything

Bad luck indeed, I've thought the same about those screws, it would only take the merest nudge to put one through the rad. I've got a couple of space savers you can have for nothing (with 'new' tyres on) but I'm way down on the south coast. Did you get any photos?

Thanks guys
I've just ordered a new rad from eurospares, not the cheapest on the net even at £25.00 but I'm very pleased with the cost anyway. Cost me £95 the other week for a Moggy rad.
It's either cable ties to secure the stoneguard mesh from now on, with a bit of pipe insulation clipped along the back of the spoiler or re locate the rad a bit higher, maybe set flat over the gearbox between the air filter housing and the ns inner wing, but that's a winter project - all ideas considered.
Next time out is an all forwards autotest on Curborough Sprint Course in Lichfield AKA "good thrash" so a low rad won't be an issue there.
I haven't got any photos yet, but I'll try and get a couple off the club who were snapping all day

Changed the rad tonight oh joy
what a pain to do - everything siezed on the front bumper then it wouldn't stop leaking on the top and bottom hoses - cure was just to move the jubilee clip onto a fresh bit of rubber as the FIAT OE clips had squashed the rubber into a new form of uncompressible matter!
at least I had a chance to have a good look at previously unexamined body parts and amazingly NO rust so chuffed to bits.
I know it was an earlier post, but there is no possibility as far as I could see of fitting a sumpguard, there's nothing there to fix to!!
Anyway if it works here's a couple of pics of me struggling with Nankangs on wet grass!

Thanks RH for the offer of wheels. It probably is a bit far.

Keep in touch if you see a pair going on ebay etc that look OK, I've just had a look and there's nothing local, and the postal charges kill the price for buying from any distance.
