Tuning More power

Tuning More power

I think the 1.1 engines are underrated. They are lighter than the 1.2 so there are a fair few Kg's advantage there. Performance exhaust manifolds are easier to get and these do make a difference with engine characteristics.

The 1.1 and 1.2 8v have the same head, a performance manifold would fit both really.

Not sure if the block height would cause the 1.1 performance manifold not to fit the 1.2.

i would say myself that on their own none of them make a huge difference, but by the time you have a cam, uno inlet, bigger TB, 421, decent exhaust, high flow CAT, decent induction, perhaps a head skim you have something which is significantly quicker than a stock car, probably about 25-30bhp extra - which doesn't sound much but 75bhp is almost 50% more power over stock. At which point you would be looking at either 1242 bottom end which would jump up the power a bit and also the torque and/or getting the head ported and flowed.

Doing one at a time though you can't really feel the car as being faster it just feels like it breaths and revs more readily.

It's fine. You'll eventually find a P75 cam in a scrappy. Maybe a Uno inlet mani (although there was a German tuning firm doing ready ported ones as tuning parts). 40mm TB from sparky, for a decent CAT you might try a Rover KV6 one (about the right size, cheap, and should flow well). from memory -- check for a post from Woj -- folk have made Polo manifolds fit.

For exhausts, watch the classifieds, or talk to Cybox.
