Not me...... but my '02 Sei MPI.

I know it could be plugs, coil pack, leads but worryingly I've heard could also be Head Gasket - Fook....

There's no mayo or oil in the coolant expansion chamber BUT there appears to be an oil leak on the right (nearside) of the engine where the cam cover and head meet.

Also, on tickover, if i 'blip' the throttle, the engine completely bogs down...

Thoughts?

Is the EML light on? If so, code read would give you a good clue. Otherwise, I tend to go leads, plugs, coil packs (pretty much in order of cost/reliability).

HG isn't a big deal on these cars. but the only way to be sure is with a compression test.

Oil leak will be the traditional rocker cover gasket one -- shedloads of threads here on fitting a new gasket properly.

The EML blinks sometimes under low rev heavy load (ie put foot right down at low revs) but then disappears almost right away. I'll do the lead, plug, pack thing first - see what happens! Thanks for the reply!

if the light has been on it will have logged the code and will store it until the code is cleared with a reader/program or if the battery is left off for a while. Best bet is to get yourself a cheap reader, its '02 so any cheap OBD2 reader on ebay will work, very handy device to own these days

Thanks for the advice, sounds like a handy piece of kit to own.
