HI! i'm new here!

Just got my second fiat, had a punto gt a couple of years back, been Japanese ever since, and now looking for a bit of fun in a seicento....

Anyway, all short lived.... The engine mount that goes underneath the car, from the gearbox, split on my way back from work, i drove it for another couple of miles carefully and the engine was rocking back and forth alot. Made it home, fixed mount, replaced 2 torn vac pipes from the back of the head, and last night i noticed the engine was really REALLY hot (no temp gauge seems mad too me) so i turned the engine off then realised i've not heard the Fan spinning since the engine mount split..

I have tested the fan with 12v and it works fine. but cant find where it could be damaged as the wires go into the loo almosat straight away and come back out near the temp switch.

Any ideas to help would be great

Thanks, Tom

I'm guessing SPI car. Have a look at the maxi fuses behind the battery -- one is for power steering, the other for the engine fan (but sometimes the cover gets lost or put on the wrong way round).

If the fuses are OK, what happens, ignition on, when you jump between the contacts of the thermoswitch on the radiator?

Hi, cheers for the reply, i think you've nailed it, 4 fuses together round there, and the 30 amp one has gone, guessing this could be the fan. i got a damn temperature switch too, if i short out the 2 connectors that go to the switch i get nothing. Will get a new fuse and take it from there. hopefully it's not gone after the problem started and i've just blown the fuse myself.....

cheers

swapped thermo switch on side of rad, changed the fuse, if i link the 2 contacts before the switch the fan comes on.... but.... still doesnt come on normally, The engine is doing some horrible hunting at the moment too, almost undrivable, checked all vac pipes and they seem to be fine, cant think of anything else too check :s
