Hi all.

First post, been reading for long time. :)

Today I fitted new top mounts from SKF and TA technix coilovers (EVOGWFI03) on my Seicento 1.1 MPI from 2005.

I noticed that the top mount doesn't spin freely like it does on my original strut.
Also once fitted you can hear a ping ping sound when turning the wheels. Probably caused by torsion on the springs..

Strangely the plate of the TA-set fits in nicely in the top mount but it sinks in perfectly with the outer ring, not touching the bearing making it useless..
I tried making a drawing of it, see the attachment!

Is this a design fault (cause of cheapo-set) or do I miss a part, like a spacer thingy?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your thoughts!

Would it be safe to fit a nut or a few washers or a combination, to fill the gap?

I just fitted mine and they spin free - you must have reassembled the top mount wrong somewhere. I'll send a picture of mine if you're still stuck! (y)
Chris

You have TA technix to? Would love a picture maybe I have manufacturing defect of the springcap!

He fitted new top mounts so he shouldnt have taken them apart...

Indeed! I thought by buying new and expensive SKF mounts I would be golden...
I feel like I'm missing a part or its a very bad design of TA technix..

Took some pics, any suggestions are welcome :)

Any thought on filling the gap with washers or a nut? (Between the bearing and the 'blue' plate.)
Or where I can find a correct spring top plate.

Think I'm going to take it apart again and see if I can fix it with adding a washer or something (n)

There should be at least one spacer in there. Can't remember if it comes with the new top mount or not.

Take a look in the pile of bits?

But I'd refrain from ad hoc stuff and contact the manufacturers..

It didn't came with mine, I used 2 rings that matched up nicely that I had laying arround. Now the top mount turns smoothly! (y)

I did mailed the reseller tho, to see if my solution is really okay or just temporary.
