Right then this is where we are at,

Building a seicento track day car, for our oocwl track days at llandow track!
Weve dropped a punto p60 block in it, its been built to th2 following spec.

NEW crankshaft
New pistons and rings with new bearings
New water pump
New sump
New timing belt
New thermostat
Original head covered 66k
Full new gasket set

Was thinking maybe 866 cam
Supersprint manifold
New exhsust system

Personally I would of liked to turbo it as the turbo versions certainly turn heads at track days!

But ive read so much about how much hassle and costs involved!
I think weve missed a massive opportunity by not dropping in a 1.4 lump, but hey thats my bros decision!

Under the car ive done the following, new wishbones, new front discs, new front pads, serviced the calipers, new apex suspension kit, 40mm lower, new brake flexis, and run new copper break lines inside the car! At the rear ive had the beam off undersealed the entire car replaced bushes, fitted new springs and painted with black hammerite. Looks like new again all the rust is a thing of the past.

Inside the car weve stripped eveything, dash, all door cards, all seats, belts, carpets, and believe it or not me and my bro managed to lift it pretty easily.

Things im looking at doing:
Maybe runnig fuel lines inside,
Pair or sparco bucket seats
Omp roll cage
Lexan polycarb windows
Larger throttle body (unsure on the punto 1.2 16v larger body and spacer plate)
Induction kit magnecor leads

Yeah so there you go thats about it !

Any advice grately appreciated

Sparky thats exactly what im after is that the stabdard one or thr 1.2 16v one from the punto, mounting it has different guide holes, so wasnt too sure about making the spacer plate to thr inlet manifold!.

What sort of prices you making thesefor?

Yes it's a MPI 8v bored out to 40mm with a new butterfly, so it will bolt straight on.

On a shortish track like Llandow the standard non-vented front brakes may get as it doesn't have any long straights to cool them back down, though also means no real high speed stuff for heavy braking.

I'd look at either going UNO Turbo vented discs if staying on 13" wheels or the bigger and more efficient Punto GT set up that requires 14" or bigger wheel. You haven't said what brake pads you have used but something like a Ferrodo DS2500 work well though never checked that they are available in Cento size. Certainly worked very well on a Clio 172 round Blyton And Cadwell. Pagid Blue or really extreme http://www.carbotech-europe.com/applications.htm are outstanding but again probably not available though Carbotech can make if given samples. Fluid is important, something like ATE Super Blue, Castrol React Performance 4. Super Blue is good as if replacing old fluid you know when it's all through as it's blue, hence the name.

Tyres. Very important. Run the best you can find in preferably track compound if a dedicated car, though I've found from looking that nothing available in 14" that would work so we went to 15" so we can run 165/50/15 Toyo R888's. Never checked for 13" as too small for our brakes.

Exhaust system will free up some performance but be conscious of noise regulations at lots of tracks though a Cento should be fine as not massively high revving or large capacity which both make more noise.

A roll cage will stiffen everything up and offer protection.

Plus get yourself helmets as cheaper than renting if going often plus know its only ever been on your head, good cheap FIA spec helmets http://www.v2sport.com/index.html

J333 evo,

I was thinking maybe EBC pads, they do a few decent versions dont they, dont mind replacig them if they get worn down etc. I was at llandow on the weekend and the bigger cars struggled against smaller machines so your right in saying no real long straights.

I was thinking of running ATE super blue brake fluid so great minds think alike there lol.

Hopefully picking roll cage up this weekend, and looking at some mods in the future too!

And who knows if it goes well and my bro manages to keep it on its roof, maybe a 1.4 lump the following year !

Thought I'd do a little update as we go with some pics!

As you can see fully stripped out, and found some rust holes the size of coke cans either side of foot wells which we had plated and welded,

Car was then completely stripped of every nut and bolt and we began the rebuild.

I'll mention before we start that I have never done something like this before and we are currently doing this on a budget and more of enjoyment than anything serious!

And more importantly we are learning as we go along!

This is the engine I have currently built, it's from a punto p60, so a little more horse power, and with a c&b cam fitted, with new valves, and ported and polished head, bottom end we've had new pistons and con rods, and also new rings, fitted it with a new sump guard, new water pump, belt, and thermostat, and before she went in we've had every gasket replaced just for peace of mind!

I then set about removing and replacing the front and rear suspension, we've gone for 40mm lowered all round as a starting point, along with replacing all new shocks and springs.View attachment 142118 View attachment 142119

Right then lets try this again!

car1.jpg
you can see in the picture above - the new p60 engine about to be fitted into place, this is our 1st little project and we decided to slide it underneat the car on a crate, all in all took about 1hr20 with me and my bro at the helm!

everything fitted pretty well indeed!

car2.jpg

in the picture above you can see the wheel arch covering has been removed new shocks and springs that we bought 2nd hand off the fiat foum, which have covered roughly 6000 miles, and 35-40mm lowered all round. We have replaced the front discs and new front pads and given everything a link of PAINT! Nice red front calipers and painted black hubs!

car3.jpg
NICE LITTLE CLOSE UP OF WHEEL ARCH! which has had a covering of underbody sealant along with the rest of the car!

car4.jpg
The picture above is the rear wheel arch , here i have had the entire rear beam off and sanded it all down to get rid of all that rust, and freshly painted it all black, replaced bushes, and new springs and shocks at the back too! next is to fit the rear drums, with the possibility of upgrading to disc conversion in the future, but at present my bro just wants to have fun on a budget!

car5.jpg
THATS THE ENGINE in the shed, which was pretty hard to lift to be honest, GYM work paying off haha! Here i have replaced pretty much everything or given it a thorough clean and service, this includes:-
NEW PISTONS
NEW CRANSHAFT
NEW BEARINGS
NEW SUMP!
NEW WATER PUMP!
NEW THERMOSTAT!
FULL NEW GASKET SET!
NEW CAM!
THROTTLE BODY BEING BORED OUT BY SPARK!
NEW VALUES AND SPRINGS
NEW HEAD GASKET SET
NEW TIMING BELT
NEW PULLEYS
AND FINALLY PAINTED THE ROCKER COVER AND WATER PIPE

LOOKS PRETTY FRESH, ALTHOUGH I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE SEEN EITHER A TURBO ON IT OR EVEN A 1.4 GO IN WE HAVE DONE REASONABLY WELL SO FAR ONLY SPENDING 550!

I HAVE ALSO RAN THE BREAK LINES INSIDE THE CAR AND REPLACED ALL THE BREAK FLEXI HOSES, WHICH LOOK PRETTY GOOD AND WORK WELL!

THINGS TO DO IN THE FUTURE INCLUDE
ROLL CAGE
PERSPEX WINDOWS
SOME RALLY STICKERS
REAR BRAKES
STRUT BRACE
SOME RALLY STYLE SWITCHES
SOME SPOT LAMPS
AND FIT THE NEW INDUCTION KIT!

CHEERS FOR LOOKING GUYS, ANY ADVICE WELCOME, BUT GO EASY LIKE I SAID THIS IS OUR 1ST PROJECT HAHA!

A little update as both me and my bro been busy with work, weve got a lot of things sorted on the last two days on the car, got the mintex rear drums, shoes, back plate and fitting kit all sorted out, at 1st drums wouldn't fit over the shoes thus was due to the handbrake actuator arm being stiff and with a bit of gt80 that soon released itself and we were onto a winner.

I think their the worst part on the car because everythig else seems to be workig a treat!

We were then able to replace a new handbrake cable and get that all hooked uo, handbrake sits a little high when being fully engaged but that can be sorted pretty easily!

We then dropped the fuel tank disconnected all pipes and cables, and inspected the pump!
To our surprise this was like new so popped that back in and got the tank painted up bkack with some metal paint to keep up with the everything clean and painted look!

We have now soured a full polycarb window kit with sliders, for 175 quid, thats pretty good for the front two windows, rear quarters and back window!

Im looking at testing the new engine as soon as the throttle body arrives, is this a simple process or should I expect the dreaded no fire and engine management light on .....???

Think thats aboutit for now
Cheers

Hi Tomo3292, where did you get your polycarb window kit from please?

I'm after an oil pressure switch for the seicento MPI version!

Ours was broken on the old engine and now I'll put it onto the new block I've realised it's not there as I've gone to connect it! Does anyone know what it looks like as apparently there are a few different shapes

Cheers
