Hi all, it's me again lol

I'm just tidying up and cleaning my seicento engine Bay Area and I have noticed some sort of grime on the crank case? I think it's called that ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1406384357.746661.jpg

What is the black cover type thing and is it ok to remove it to clean the crud underneath? Does it look like it is leaking or is a buildup of stuff normal?

Cheers jack

The plastic cap is for adding oil.

Over the years people will have spilled a bit filling it up so no harm in cleaning it, just don't get any of the crud in the hole for the oil.

I'd take the hole rocker cover off and clean it that way. It's only a few bolts and a new rocker gasket (which is probably leaking anyway!) to remove and refit.

That's the oil filler cap. On the cam cover.

It just pulls off and pops back on again. No problem cleaning around there -- a rag dipped in solvent -- but don't let anything fall down the hole where the oil goes in.

You need the Owrner Guide and -- later -- the Seicento Technical Manual, from the Downloads section.

The black rubber cover is the oil cap. You remove it to put more oil in the engine :)
Yes you can remove it, BUT be very careful when cleaning around it not to allow any dirt, grit or fluids in the hole or your engine could then develop all sorts of problems!
