Standard TB is 60mm (& the ally pipe is 76mm).
It's better to utilize the hole on the elbow for the engine breather as the filter sits lower than the TB & oil in the engine vapour will eventually start to clog the filter. No biggy if you use the connector on the pipe as most people do as it will take a very very long time for oil vapour to do this.
