Hi guys , looking too replace my timing belt water pump and spark plugs as im getting my head skimmed soon

Im running a 1.1 8v 187 variant with 125 teeth on the timing belt, Does anyone know if the 125 teeth has the 20 or 24 size water pump. Or if it can vary its a 51 plate

This is my first car so im not too clued up on engine variaints between older fiat cars

I went to euro car parts with the reg plate and chasis number but they supplied the wrong parts, i had seen a video on youtube comparing water pumps and saying that a certain design had a better flow rate , when buying replacement parts is there much difference in the quality of the water pumps and timing belt aftermarket belts, the continental one i was accidently supplied had just one tensioner supplied

When doing a timing belt is it best too replace any other critical components other than the tensioner too maintain a good engine life

im also changing oil thermostat and oil filter so was meaning in regards to the timing blt kits if anything else other than the tensioner needs worked as well when doing the belt

Ive heard of gates dayco etc for parts but thought some long term seicento owners would perhaps offer some good advice as to what parts to go with

Dayco or gates on the belt and tensioner. Give eurocarcare a ring one of the nicks will sort you out with good quality and correct parts don't worry about flow rates in the pump etc also get an aux belt. There's only one tensioner which is the same on both mpi and spi belts it's the teeth number that differ. If the headgasket has gone as well as relpacing thermostat it would be worth flushing radiator and ensuring the cooling fan works properly.

On standard cars there is no oil thermostat.

I've always believed that the pressed steel type water pump impellers don't flow as well as the cast metal (or nylon) ones. But I think that only QH and other far eastern companies use the pressed steel type.

You may have a non original engine, or a non FIAT specialist dealer may have wrong VIN information. Water pump teeth will vary according to belt.

You won't go far wrong if you order from Shop4Parts or eurocarcare.net. Both have member discounts -- see member offers.

Cheers guys,

I forgot too put a comma in between oil and thermostat so planning to change them both :) i , im not sure where ive put my waterpump that i took off so need to double check what pump fits the belt with 125 teeth before ordering my parts

Will get the fan tested in due course

Fingers what do you mean by QH parts , never heard that phrase before

only go for OEM stuff from Fiat ( though shop around ) magnetti marrelli from unto.pl i bought cheap non oem parts from eurocarcare and they were total junk and failed so check if they have genuine oem bits rather than the cheap ones ...its not just fiat that has poor aftermarket stuff ...VW is the same oem is more expensive but you DO get what you pay for ,,its false economy to buy cheap parts

can't say i have ever had a cheap repro part from ECC, only ever had oem or good reputable branded parts from them.. It even states on their website they don't stock cheap and nasty stuff.

I infact recommend to people on a daily basis to use ECC so that they can avoid such nasty products!
