Hi,

I picked up my new (T Reg) Fiat Seicento Sporting on Saturday (y)

On the way home I noticed that I had a leak :yuck:

So after much searching I find out that the Seicento's have terrible fuel tank leaks!:bang:

Also I noticed that Seicento's built in 1999 had a recall in 2004 to replace the tanks. Do you think that I could get it replaced by FIAT if the original owner never did at recall time?

Also could I just seal it up with hardcore adhesive?

Sorry if I am asking questions people already have, I did have a search but couldnt see anything that answered my question.

Thanks in advance

If not been replaced by previous owner or in its life (fiat will hold the data and be able to tell you in seconds when you visit them) then you should get a free replacement under the recall

If it has had a replacement then obviously fiat wont be as obliging and you are more than likely on your own, however the tanks are cheap to buy and not a terribly hard DIY job

AppleSei,

Thank you very much for that!

Ill contact them tomorrow, fingers crossed!!

Do you know of any guides to do it?

Thanks

No, but there is the Seicento Technical Manual in the Downloads Library.

Most important things are probably to empty the tank as much as possible before you do it and to use plenty of a real penetrating oil (Plus Gas, GT-85, etc.) on the tank retaining bolts a few days before you start. Chances are, they'll shear off if you do not.

Aha, I have the same problem with my 2000 car, didn't notice till I filled the tank over halfway for a long motorway journey and I nearly passed out with the fumes! Had a dreadful headache for several days afterwards!!!
