Hi all does anyone know where I can get a mk1 punto 16v fuel pump relay from? As this may be the problem? As I've now done head gasket, skim re & seat valves as still sputters/mis fires

Why? Compression test would give a very good indication of whether the issue was there.

Try Big Mick at eurocarcare.

But if it is an underfuelling/lean misfire, I'd suspect the pump, rather than the pump relay. Relay, after all, is nowt but a simple electromagnetic switch. If it fails, you should get no fuel, not too little.

Too lazy to dig through your thread - did you actually uprate the fuel pump?

suggest you recheck the compression, to eliminate piston or bore problems...

but a misfire could be anything wrong why do you think it is pump or relay?

Normally good motor factor will have a equivalent relay but the new relay may click too, see if you can get a multi meter on the relay control pin connector before spending money.

Is the ECU light intermittent?

If you have any other electrical symptoms Id clean all the earth contacts and copperslip.

I always compression test after a rebuild...

No problem with ecu light on dash board, I've cleaned all earths onto engine & attached again

relays are not that reliable if the control line is good id get a new one is there a factor in the local town?

Clicking relay is often a problem with earths. You said you cleaned them up. But something rings a bell in my head about 16V engine needing an extra earth somewhere, compared to standard Cinq loom? Anyone?
