Aaron,
35 to the gallon is terrible! I had a 1.8 litre VW Passat which did 38 mpg, and then a 1.2 litre Clio which did 50 mpg, and a 1 litre Micra which did 55 mpg! So 34 to the gallon for a Cinquecento is pretty awful!

To be fair in a turbo car which my Cinq is its good, better than the 28 listed by Reanult for a 5 Turbo and much better than the 22 listed for my integrale which to be honest can see the hi-teens very easily! And my car probably produces about double the power of the Clio or the Micra, so its a trade off really, or thats what I tell myself as it was supposed to be a cheap car so I didn't have to drive the 'grale everywhere, but then my mates MK3 2L 8V Golf GTi gets 30 to the gallon (taken from his trip computer) and that is soooo slow compared to the Cinq.

Aaron.

Fairynuff - I guess I'm just too used to having cars that do 50+ mpg! Also I'm a biker as well and most of my bikes will do 60+ mpg and do 0-60 in around 5 seconds!

Having said that, I bet your Cinq goes like sh*t off a shovel! I mean, my bog-standard 1.1 sporting is fast enough (when it is working, grr) let alone a turbo version!

Worst I've got is 42mpg. Previous best was a 400 mile run at 49mpg, however, since then I've fitted a Sportex Boxsta exhaust and on the same run got 52mpg. :confused:

Bizarrely, haven't fixed the problems with the car yet but the last £25 tank of fuel gave me 300 miles!

I sometimes only get 200miles to a full tank, and other i can get 250. For me it depends on what driving i do. most of the itme its short hops, so consumption is bad. The weather affects mine too. if its warmer then i get more mpg

Thought it was just me who did that. Nice to hear it aint just me that thinks Cinqs are a good replacement when the heavens open up.

Definitely - nice to see another biker on the forums. :D

(conversion is 4.545L to UK gallon)
Aaron.

Just calculated mine out and got the following results. If this is wrong someone please tell me - I gotta 'D' in Math anyway.

4.545L = 1Gal
83.9p Litre
£10.00 juice @ 83.9p/L = 11.92L
11.92L = 2.622 Gals
100miles from £10 juice

38.13mpg

I woulda expected more from a little car like the Cinq - I used to own a 1.4i Corsa that did exactly the same mpg as this - so when you put the two side by side...

Just to add to the fuel economy debate... I do about 250 miles a week in my Cinq sporting, a mixture of dual carriageway, country lane and town driving. I would describe my driving style as "enthusiastic" (well it has to be in a cinq sporting doesn't it?). I fill up for about £23/£24 and get just over 300 miles from the tank. I accurately calculate my mpg, which is consistently 50mpg exactly (it was 47/48 in the winter!)
Presumably this is a good guide as to what a standard Cinq sporting should be doing?

so what calculations did you use to acheive these results, cuz I think I've done mine wrong - its never easy though in a car where the fuel light comes on 5 minutes after you've filled up.

I always try to run mine done so its sat on the white line more often than not before I reckon its properly empty. Like I said I usually get 100 miles out of a £10 and most of my driving is main roads/streets and dual carriageways - no motorways.

To get an accurate mpg figure you need to fill the tank right up and re-set your trip odometer. Then when you fill up again (doesn't matter whether the tank is empty of still half full) take a note of how many miles you have done, and how many litres of fuel it takes to fill the tank again.
I filled up yesterday = 28.94 litres, having done 325 miles since the previous fill up. Divide the litres by 4.54 to convert to gallons (28.94/4.54 = 6.37gals). Then divide the miles by the gallons (325/6.37 = 51.02 mpg) Wow - my best yet! Hope this makes sense! :confused:

i went 2 fiat and they sed it my lat sensor or sum **** 2 do wif air hintake and it costs 60squid 2 replace it and 50squid 2 c if that's wot it definetly is so i just hav 2 put more fuel in

Drove to Hull and back from Somerset at the weekend (500 mile roundtrip) and got 310 miles on a £24 tank of fuel! That's more like it - I think these cars are just very very sensitive to driving conditions (i.e. town or open-road).

Seeing as this is open again, you do know that in summer you should experience a drop in fuel economy, even if its just slight as the petrol is hoter and therefore less dense therefore carrying less molcules or something meaning more fuel has to be used to get same burn, it was on Top Gear when they did that Aberdeen to London run in some BMW Desiel to see if it matched the makers claims at mpg, so when you fill up get it on a cold morning as you get more fuel for your money.
