The fuel pump on my daughter's Seicento is causing me some concern. She hadn't said anything but when I drove it last weekend I noticed after about 5 minutes that inside the car the pump was actually louder than the engine. After a stop it was quiet again for a few minutes but then got louder once more. A little experimentation showed the same thing - start off and it's quiet then gets noisy, real noisy.
Searched the forum but can't find much similar - am I correct in assuming that the pump is on it's way out?

When my sister bought her cinq it had a screaming fuel pump. I just changed just the pump motor not the entire assembly and that solved the problem. If you change the pump motor in the assembly to take the pipe of the pump motor output you will need some clic / click-R hose clamp pliers like the ones pictured. Its nothing difficult fiat use these clamps on nearly everything and they work well.

CLIC AND CLICK - R

Im no expert on cinqs and sie's so there maybe other possible causes. Hopefully others can help (y)

It's a 2000 Sporting with single point injection and it's got about half a tank of fuel.

Good point. I certainly haven't changed it and judging by the other things I've had to replace the last 4 years (including the tank) I'd reckon it's never been changed.

I'll try that first and if it makes no difference I'll go for a pump.
