Well I'm feeling really stupid... Just took my battery out to fit and realised i hadn't at any point while looking at it done the old jump lead from battery to engine to ensure good earth. Sure enough it fired straight up many time in a row on the existing battery.
Such a rooky mistake, and now have this brand new battery i don't need and a lighter wallet - prob cost half what i paid to return it as it was bought online with free delivery.

The history of the engine as i know it is that i have done about 8k miles with it in my car, before i dropped it in i changed just about everything on it. Sean had it in his ratty cinq before that and i believe he did about 10k with it in his car. And i believe it was fully rebuilt by Todger before it went in Seans car. Seems to be a good strong engine though, upto last sunday it has never given me a single bit of hassle running wise - just that slice in the cambelt in July that i have no idea how happened, was only an hour to swap the belt for new one again though..
As it happens i have just come inside from cleaned up the earths and now it works fine, starts on the button again was the passenger wing to gearbox lead the issue.

dunno what next, something with a turbo lol.. Coupe 20vt, maybe Uno Turbo if i can find a decent one for not silly money, boosted mx5, s13 200sx, the list of possibilities are pretty much endless tbh. My only thing atm really is it must not be really expensive and it must have a turbo
