Hi,

Apologies for starting a new thread but can't find my problem so far among the many coilpack/ECU/wiring issues...

New GF means a new car to get to grips with and trying to solve an electrical (I think) problem on a 2001 Seicento Sporting aka The Yellow Peril :)

The car had been running inconsistently for a short while especially in the wet when according to GF the Peril "wouldn't go over 40," and suffering poor cold starting.

Coilpacks, plugs and leads replaced and ECU tested and confirmed as OK (ECU Testing Ltd in Heanor, Notts - great service and didn't charge me as no fault found)

A mechanic friend suggested tapping a live feed to the coilpacks and with 12v direct from the battery into the pink wire(s) to the packs the car runs runs perfectly.

My question is where does the pink wire come from in which case I can check the source for output and trace/replace the wire or address the lack of output at the source. Alternatively what is the required input to the coilpacks - i.e. can I just make this bodge permanent by adding an ignition switched 12v supply to the coilpacks?

Any help gratefully appreciated. (y)

Dan.

Cheers - looks like the multimeter is coming out when I get home....
