hi all

my so far faultless m plate 900 cinq is showing some wear

its the separate black immobliser key !

its getting a bit temperamental and since its the only one i got,

i was wondering if there was a simple way of bypassing the whole immobliser key business

so that it just starts off the ignition key

I think it must be an after-market system completely external to the main ECU.
So it will be a case of reversing the installation process.

have you got a pic of the key? I'm going to guess that its a laserline one if it has an over ride key. if it is, you can still get them and pair them into the immobiliser. my works sells them if it is laserline. if its an aftermarket one, ripping it out will take about 1 hour, really easy to do.

hmmmm

always thought that the immobiliser was factory fitted

its got INS on it

and goes into a black small round fitting, with a flashing red light, low on the dash

well I was wrong about it being laserline, thats the meta logo that fiat did use so could be factory fit. It should be able to be removed tho if its becoming problematic. I'll have a natter to my boss and see if you can get spares, but it maybe worth a trip to your local fiat dealer too

the dealer fit makes most sense to me as i knew the previous old lady owner who had it from new before i brought it

sooooooooooo how easy would it be to disable it

rather than mess around with a new key

and ta for you all help so far

if your around barnsley

im in cardiff mate :D

if you don't put the key in, dies it kill the ignition and the starter or just the starter?

the dash lights up but the starter doesnt turn !!

had a quick look under the bonnet for the dealer fitted immobiliser box but not quite sure what im looking for

It will be under the dash, and it sounds like its only cutting the starter. The mist logical thing to do is follow thw wires from that key bit to the box, it should be near the steering wheel and is likely to be cut into the starter wire from the ignition. All youll have to do is rejoin the wire for the starter.
