Once again the 1242 has impressed me, just been driving back from girlfiends house out in the country! Had a audi a3 catch up with me on the coutry road as was taking it steady he decided to park in my boot!!!! So kept going steady all the way he was in my boot so when we got to the motorway got on slip road and let hell break loose! Gain distance as pulled on motorway (was totaly dead!!) and kept my foot down till got to about 105 he was still behind me! then he started to gain but very slowly aventually he got by me at a crawling pace. You should of seen his face!! (was like what the hell you got in that thing!!) when he pasted saw the badge it was a 1.8tdi.
Very pleased with my car now cant wait for a re - map

VW/Audi doesn't have a 1.8tdi they only have 1.4, 1.9, 2.0, 2.5 TDI engines. The only one labelled 1.8 is the 1.8Turbo and that would strip the paint out of a fiat 1242 , they put out ~200hp in stock trim. (i've had one and a 2.0GTI GLX Passat with 222hp, it was auto though!!).

Do you have the mpi one(75)?

yes, he does

it's not just about the car, it's about the driver. and trust me, Silver_Sei can drive! :D

I can only imagine how fast mine will be then!!:D , so far plans call for an early 90's Uno chassis (mk2) though i would prefer a panda for the bigger shock factor:rolleyes: .

The 2.5tdi only has 180hp and the A3 is a bit on the heavy side (the a3 only comes with the 2.0tdi, 2.5 is for the A4 but there are swaps:mad: ), the fastest diesel golf i've seen is a friend of mine who owns a purple (yes purple!!) mk2 golf with a 2.5TDI engine, he was my inspiration to make the Turbo Fire project;) , honestly i still have a hard time to beat him because his car will pull high 12 sec 1/4miles.(n)

It took a lotta hard work though. Anyone considering a 1242MPi conversion needs to be up for a lotta headaches and a lotta beer to back them up!

Id love to get it done to mine in the future but i need to save a lot and i'd pronably have to be prepared and be in a situation to not need the car for a while.

With proper planning it should be doable in a weekend.;)

I think you will find you are very wrong when its comes to the VW/AUDI group 1.8T engine as its comes with anything from 150bhp as in the Golf GTi MK4/Beetle/various Seat's and Skoda's and is also available in 180bhp as in the Audi TT/A3 etc etc and it also comes in 200 bhp in the old Cupra's as VW kept the 225bhp mapping for its cars ie TT/S3 etc.

So therefore in a car weighing anything up to 1300kgs the power to weight ration is pretty poor of the 150bhp model is awful as was demonstrated on Top Gear when they did old versus new and the MK1 GTi was quicker over 1/4 mile than the MK4!

I was refering to the not being a diesel fact, my passat weighs 1100kgs so there is no way a golf weighs more then that (mine is a sw), also the GTI is a 2.0 16V and it's not a turbo. MK4's in general are crap unless that happens to be a GOLF R32 or something like that.
