What we are essentially trying to do here is public shaming to trigger progress
I see what you did there
woj nice pun there (Y)
so lee are you going to tell ever one why it broke ?
your all wrong
lmao... ok so no pics but im sure i can explain.... ish...
so basically after a thrash down the bypass.. late at night and just really trying to work out what the 0-60 times were.. first run after warm up... 2nd gear launch on 0.8bar of boost... i get to the speed limit of 70mph... (obviously as thats the max speed limit right??) let off the throttle and all is fine.. a few seconds later i get popping and backfires.. eml light.. and no power...
so i manage to coast up the hill and into the layby... where it grinds to a halt... i turn the key and theres what sounds like no compression... so i figure it must be a catastrophic hg failure.. however... no coolant and no oil contamination... so i get it recovered home and leave it be for a few days.. order a new head gasket set and bolts.. a new oil filter and get some new coolant..
mid week i decide to strip the head off.. strange... headgasket is fine... like... 110% fine... hmm... rings... so i fill the bores level with the tops of the pistons full of oil... nothing.. oil does'nt disappear... so i grab the TRIGGER PULLEY (cheers
woj ) and it comes off in my hand....:bang::bang:
so here comes my explanation/excuse
basically when i was mocking the engine up on the stand i realised the original crank pulley was dented so i removed it and replaced it with one i had on a scrap 1108 that was on the drive... however... the one on the drive had a seized bolt so i decided to hack the head off of it with a grinder... that kind of buggered the pulley slightly but i figured i would replace it before the engine went in.... yea i forgot to replace it... therefore when i tightened the bolt to torque it didnt have a flat surface to mate to.. in fairness it lasted 600 miles of abuse before it came completely loose and snapped the woodruft key and then falling off..
so theres my explanation.. ive now ordered a new pulley from fit.. i have all the bits i need to get it all back together now i just havent had time to put it all back together.. hopefully ill be at brooklands this year if i can get a day odd between then and now to put it all back together and get it motd and tracked up ect
watch this space.. pics next time... maybe ;P
cheers
Lee
