Howdy peeps,

I got the the top half the inlet off (black plastic bit), and there are 2 star sharped bolt that bolt the fuel rail to the inlet.

How do i take the injector out with the fuel rail ?

Thanks
Ming

There's a spring metal retaining clip on them that holds them into the fuel rail.

can just see the litte indented ring where the retaining clip snaps in place

Well, with the rail pressurised, 12v across the terminals should pulse an injector and you'll see the spray.

But "working" covers a multitude of issues. To be perfect, the spray pattern needs to be correct and the pulse time accurate.

It's said that stuck shut ones can often be freed by soaking overnight in deisel and pulsing while tapping with a toffee hammer..........

Emerald test them. Worthwhile giving DW a bell, he's usually free early in the morning.

But I'd just run the bloody things -- if you've not got a pretty chronic misfire, they're probably just fine.

Cylinder 1 is not doing anything .... got spark and compression!

And when i take the plug out it doesn't smell of any petrol ..

I tested a set of injectors by removing the rail and injectors (complete) from the inlet manifold, pointing them away from the car and getting someone else to crank the car over.

THIS WILL SPRAY FUEL EVERYWHERE SO IS VERY DANGEROUS BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU VERY QUICKLY THAT THEY ALL WORK OR NOT

To test just one, disconnect the wiring from all the others.

okok will do, also TB is off as the top half of the inlet. That should be fine rto crank over right ?

Do injector fail often ~?

Thanks

Do injector fail often ~?

No. A safer option might be to swap the injector with another one. If the no fuel follows the injector, then the injector is at fault (but stuck shut, so won't respond to conventional cleaning, needs the deisel and hammer treatment) if it stays where it is, it's likely to be a wiring fault.

Indeedy, my guess would be that it's a wiring fault.

someone i will go over, but i can't see it going from working to dieing ..... and i guess wiring fault would be easy to spot as i need to just look for dodgy wires in the loom.

Suppose one of these IWP045 failed (mechanically, the plug broke off), there is no used replacement available in Western Europe entire and a new one amounts to the grand total of 115 quid.

Do these Bosch injectors, in case one finds some with the same 200cc flow rate, fit into the rail or doesn't it clear the intake pipes?
