ok guys so basically i was watching dragonmans video on his cold start and noticed that when he turns the ignition on the lights on the dash pop up and one of the first to go out is the injection light... mine doesnt do this my light goes out a few seconds after the car has started, only mods are k&n induction kit and custom cat back exhaust... any ideas on what this could be?

heh, in one of my other cold start vids some one pointed out that my injection light was on. after the engine was started.
its your earth strap, the one thats just under the header/expansion tank. replace the strap going from the engine to the body work and it should stop the injector light lighting up on startup.
cos i have a large battery in the boot i added a few more earth straps just in case.

Hang on -- to go off shortly after the engine starts is absolutely normal.
Turn the ignition without starting the engine. The inj. light should be on as long as you can hear the fuel pump priming. They should go off both at the same time. Measure this time, and this should be roughly how long the light should stay on when starting the engine immediately with turning the ignition.
Of course, another simpler solution to check is to turn the ignition wait for the light to go off, then start and see if it flashes again. If so, then go on the earth strap hunt

yeah it supposed to go out fingers.. i know this as i have always waited for it to go out before starting all of my centos, cinqs and seis.
Yes, I think that's just a bulb check.
Seq uence seems to be, put the key in the position before start, ECU light comes on (goes out shortly after), start the car, car starts, ECU light remains on for a few seconds.

Mmmm none of mine have ever done that.. For me its turn to ignition, get ecu light and fuel prime noise. Prime stops and light goes out, start car, no ecu light. All of my cars have done that unless they weren't working at the time lol.
Can't remember, to be honest, but this one doesn't strike me as different to the others.
Normally I just turn the key and it starts! (I used to do that with the Weisel as well, till I worked out it had glow plug warning lights and wouldn't start in the cold!)
If the light goes out, I can't see there being an issue.

i treat my injector light like a glow plug light. hey.. life wont let me have a diesel car, but at least i can pretend to have one.

cheap as in fully working with no faults, taxed and tested and the same insurance costs as the car i have now..
the worst car in the world.. picture it.. if some one told me i could drive around in it for free, i would be using that car lol only interested in the cheapest of the cheap in motoring... well as i stand now, maybe when i get a job i may upgrade.. wouldnt mind a swift with the 1.25l diesel in. £30/y road tax and 70 mpg.. bit too modern though ill wait till i can pick one up for under £1000.. if i can afford it at the time that is LoL

I should point out that my deisel is a 19 year old P100 pick up.
