hi all,

as you may know i have been turbo converting my punto mk2 1.2 8v MPI FIRE engine

basically i have everything sorted all i have to do is wire the MF2 up to control the extra fueling

i am going to use 4 stock injectors on the rear off the inlet and need the MF2 to work all 4 i know it has been done before but need help with the wiring please...its only about 8 wires but any help at all is much much appreciated

i will be running 3D mapping with an additional 3 bar MAP sensor instead off the pressure sensor

RED - 12V power supply switched 5amp fused
DO i connect this directly to battery positive supply with a 5 amp fuse or does it need to be on an ignition live so it only come to life when ignition is on?

RED/BROWN - Red is 12V power supply and brown is injector drive
well 2 wires obviously come from the injector plug but which goes to which? theres a thick brown/white one and a thin green one on punto MPI injector plugs so unsure which to connect to

ORANGE/BLUE - Pressure ssensor (i wont be using as im using a 3 bar MAP sensor) ORANGE is 5v regualted supply and blue is signal wire
Do i just use these 2 wires on the 3bar map sensor? the map sensor is off an escort cosworth which has 3 pins as ususal im guessing one 5v positive, one signal and one earth am i right?? if so how do i know which is which?

YELLOW - RPM signal from coil
I dont have a negative from coil as well i dont run an old coil obvs i have twin coil pack so do i just use the cranksensor?? if so which wire do i connect to?

WHITE/BLACK
EARTH i got this one ;) haha

any help is soo much appreciated as the car is off road now awaiting the installation off this :)

BTW this is the 3 bar MAP sensor im guessing that the third pin is earth as it has the metal plate coming from it so i will have to earth the body off the MAP sensor??

sorry for all the questions im just unsure and want to get it right first time :)

cheers in advance to anybody that helps :)

thats the map sensor

also how do i connect the wiring for injectors to power 4 injectors? do i just join all 4 wires together or is there a techniwue as if wiring in parralel or series?

cheers

Surely it all came with a wiring diagram for the MF2?

Are you asking for a wiring diagram for the car?

Thanks

it tells you what each wire off the MF2 needs to be connected to which i get...the thing i dont get that much is which wires on the car to connect too

basically this is what i need to know:

*what sequence if any to wire the injectors up and which wire is positive from injectors
*Can i get RPM signal from crank if so which wire theres 2 or is only one positive i dont know
*Does the 12v power have to be on key or live all time

thats basically it then i can wire it all up

or just to know how to test where to put the wires i really want to get this right first time

I wrote a guide ages ago, should be able to find it on here if you search my posts/threads.

EDIT: SEE FILE ATTACHED, excuse spelling/grammar, did it one night when slightly drunk...

thank you gaz, that is very very helpful and has cleared a lot off it up for me :)

only thing still unsure is the injectors tbh i think im confusing myself here...

basically the injector plug has 2 wires yes a thick brown/white one and a thin green/blue one....so do i just connect the red 12v positive (MF2) wire to brown/white (injector) and the brown (MF2) to green/blue (injector)

is it as simple as that mate assuming with the cinq being SPI you used one extra injector...im using a set of 4 stock injectors so do i just join all 4 wires together?

thanks for all your help mmate :)

Yes that is correct.

One is signal, other is feed.

Brown and white will be power for all the injector wires, and coil pack. signal wires i'm not sure if there will be 2 the same or all four different colors to each other. As long as they fire in the order of 1 and 4, then 2 and 3 you should be ok.

Thanks

right iv wired everything up fused pos, signal to map and pos earthed and everything

when trying to set up the ecu no lights are showing??

the threshold light comes on and thats it no signal??

i used the coil wire for signal as "shakey_hand_man" has done on his turbo conversion still nothing tryed both :(

is there a wire behind dial cluster i hear?? i tryed to test al wires to see when voltage raises ect couldnt find the wire i have a mk2 1.2 8v with rev counter speedo fuel and temp anybody know the wire or why it isnt working??

cheers

come on guys...is there something im missing??

iv selected the number 2 pin to adjust variable cylinder but it wont light any LED's on the MF2??

iv tryed to get the siganl fro various places but it wont pick up a signal is there anythink else i need to adjust or switch first?? everything i have checked and stripped all wiring back everything is connected

What do you mean signal to map sensor, shouldnt be any wires on the mf2 itself going to the map sensor, theres definately a feed on the rev counter on the speedo cluster, may be in a different place on the punto, check all the connecters with a multimeter and see which one rises when you rev the car.

right ok, for the pressure sensor wires if you dont have a pressure switch coming off of the mf2 from those wires with a vac pipe then you need to run an external map sensor for the mf2, so keep your original exactly where it is then run the 3bar map sensor for the mf2 then you need a vac pipe coming from that map sensor t pieced into your vac lines for reading boost, hope that helps. I know this is an old post but I've just currently wired an MF2 into my cinq turbo and wired everything up as illustrated above except I found the most straight forward wire to splice into to get an rpm signal is the black wire with purple stripe (ecu pin 23) that goes into the fuel pump relay right next to the ecu in the engine bay. That wire is an input wire from the rev counter directly so gives off the rpm feed which if you've got the mf2 in the engine bay like what I have then it saves a lot of hassle routing the wire to the cockpit then to the rev counter just for the same signal. I tried originally using one of the coil pack wires but since the cinq has 2 coil packs, trying to use one of the coil negative wires will only give half of the rpm signal to the mf2 so won't be any good, and if you try and use both negative rpm wires spliced together the engine misfires so wouldn't advise that either. I did some testing with the fuel pump relay black/purple wire and can confirm that the mf2 red rev lights light up in correspondence to the rev readings on the rev counter. Hope that helps.
