Please help I have a 2002 fiat seicento michael schmacer model, I havent had it long, Its just had to have sump seal, crank seal, rocker cover seal as was leaking alot of oil.

Since having it all done at vauxhall it has come back with a prob that they are saying is nothing to do with them. The engine managment light comes but only about once aweek and just flashes a few times then goes off the car does feel jerky.

This has improved as before it felt more jerky and was misfiring and the light came on for longer.

Vauxhall have checked code and it has mis fire codes on it.

Not sure what to do with it as just spent out £650 having work done it,

Any ideas? Please help

A missfire will cause the management light to flash as unburnt fuel goes past the 02 sensor.

What missfire codes were stored?

Start the engine up in the dark and peer under the bonnet for any blue HT flashes.

thankyou for you replies, they didnt say what code, just said misfire codes - they have been a nightmare to deal with.:bang:

I was thinking of getting new spark plugs for it? to see if it would help

Misfire is much more likely to be HT leads than plugs. Do the peek under the bonnet trick -- it won't cost you a penny!

The car is OBD2 compliant, so anyone with a code reader will be able to snag the codes.

Isn't there a batch of dodgy MPI ECU ?

I found it before, there is a list somewhere.

Check the cranks sensor is sitting correctly, and that its cable and/or connector are undamaged.

Generally the micro ECUs fitted to thre very early MPI cars (and a lot of Puntos) was a PITA. Usually caused a random misfire. The Puntistas seem to have come up with a DIYable solution, but that's where I'd look for a list.

That was 4 years ago! If yours is an MPI car, do a code read. MPI cars are OBD2 compliant, so any code reader can do the job. Or buy a cheap code reader from eBay.

If SPI, you need leads, a laptop and free software.

Here for MPI/SPI.
