Hey all,

Replacing the rear shoes on my seicento tommorrow, and I need a bit of information. The new rear shoes have springs on them (where the holding pin should go into them), I need to know whether these springs should face outwards i.e away from the car (towards the wheel), or towards the car (away from the wheel). I would just compare them to the brake shoes on the car but my friend has already been round and stripped them off already :(

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks
Dave

the springs face outwards but i will warn you, they're a bitch to get back on!

Seconded on the "bitch to get back on" idea. ;)

Id recommend a set of adjustable pliers, a big fat flat blade screwdriver, and some safety goggles

I'm not quite sure we're on about the same springs, these are the springs i mean:

are we on about the same thing?

Nope. I dont think so.

IIRC, those springs should face inwards (At least mine did)

That pic above from the workshop manual shows an old hub too.
It has the crescents cut out of it to make fitting the new shoes easier. If your hubs have been replaced recently the cut-outs ain't there. On my 98 Sie only one side had the old style.
The new style doesn't have a full cut-out but are thinner where the crescents would normally go. Makes it a bit more of a biatch to fit new shoes.
