Well its finally started.....thought i would start at the easy end and work my way forwards. The rear beam is now out and stripped down to its component parts.
parts going into rear end are handbrake cable, rear drums, cylinders, brake shoes, fitting kit, rear wheel bearings and redo the poly bushes and get everything cleaned and painted up.
the whole of the underneath is getting waxoiled although everything is good underneath just extra protection:)
I know that the rear brakes are non exsistent as it is and and the passenger side needs a bearing so may as well do them both as no point in cutting any corners.
again a brake back plate has rotted out so both will be getting replaced.when undoing one of the rear brake pipes i literally just touched it and it snapped so good job i chosen to do the rebuild now as it could of been interesting to say the least coming into a roundabout:eek::eek::cry:
more pics and updates will follow as it progresses but this is not going to be done in a hurry(y)

apparently i think the rear bumper was a hormann but cant be 100% sure....phatashki would know as i believe he put it on around 2004/5 and i have to agree that it looks better than the abarth but i would like an original to put back on there.(y)

Are you doing rear discs dude?

not sure yet as someone said u only really need disc conversion for sprinting etc think it was rallycinq plus more agro and the rear brakes on it were brilliant till the lining collapsed on the drivers rear:(
but on the other hand i do like the idea:D

Your rear bumper is an ms design bumper, had one on my old turbo cinq, honestly speaking from experience id go for the rear discs if i were you :), ran my 106 rallye with a gti lump in it for about 1 day before i took it off the road as the rear drum brakes wernt good enough and made the car barely brake lol, is well worth it for the long run mate!

i like the idea of a standardish looking car used to build street sleepers old english cars with big v8s in them...my last one was an austin a35 with a 460cu tbird engine and box shoved in that was serious sideways fun:D so going back to the cinq id like to only be able to see drums thru the wheels, its already got punto gt grooved discs and green pads in and it stopped on a pin head:devil:

Nice, finally got around to making a start on the beastie then.

Does this mean I can't pull that favour from you now? or is the lowering kit going onto the daily?

Thanks

X

i will throw it on the daily when u need the favour doing so the offer is still there for u(y)
timed myself on getting the beam out and did it in 40mins....did cheat slightly as i just cut all the brake pipes as replacing all the originals and got braided hoses ready to go on:slayer:

thats not a hormann bumper, the Hormann has a grille/vent under the number plate:)

That's a tidy starting point for a conversion. Bodywork looks fantastic, rear apron included.

bodywork aint bad just a few car park dings left by careless shoppers who dont give a f*"k about ur car and choose to bounce their trolley off it but these will all be sorted out and the paint has faded in a couple of places but its going to get a full respray so not too bothered and yes its staying broom yellow:D best colour for cinqs imola blue is very close second(y)

and the respray is going to be inside and out:D luckily i have a very good friend who is a bodywork/sprayer by tradde and does it all day everyday so getting it all done for £500:p
anyway 1.2 sporting inlet and ecu arrived today from ebay at a rip off price off 99p plus £10 postage but no work is getting done today as not feeling very well only had spinal fusion done back in december and still getting bad days and good days hence another reason why this will be a long term resto.....
a few more pics of how the car stands today inside and out.... hope u like them and if anybody wants any pics of anything on a cinq dont hesitate to ask me(y)
