Please save me from doing a 'Faulty Towers' (beating it with a tree branch) to this jinxed car.
Car: Jan '99 Siecento sporting.
Purchased 5'ish years ago with 29,000mls has now done another 25,000mls(total 54,000mls). In this time it has had 2 exhausts, 2 radiators, petrol tank, engine sensor, front hydrolic pipes, headlight modul, handbrake cable(this is just what I can remember off the top of my head) plus the altenator bearing is now sqeelling and the usual consumables - brakes, timing belt, etc. Its been regularly serviced and lead a fairly easy life.
I've just poped down the supermarket and back with this result:- Got in car, turned on ignition and lights come on then all but the handbrake and charging light go off. Start engine and drive off with all lights staying off. Get in car to come back home. Turn on ignition and lights come on then go off except for handbrake and charging light - as before. Start engine, release handbrake to drive off and all lights are off. As I increase revs injection light comes on and stays on for the rest of the trip. Car performs normally. Come back out to the car after a long period of cursing in the house.
Turn on ignition and you can hear the injection pump charging up to pressure. Car starts very readily, ticks over and runs/revs fine as always(no abnormal exhaust smoke). But, on increasing revs above a little above tickover the injection light comes on and stays on. Turn off ignition and restart engine with the same result.
Help/ suggestions!!!

I am pretty sure that your problem is the alternator. Make sure that the connections are good and then get the alternator tested.
