My wifes 2002 1.1 Seicento (NOT Sporting) has a leaking Fuel tank.

There are some on ebay available for £55.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380305254199&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

my simple question is will this fit ?

I have no idea from reading other threads what mpi or spi means or even if it will make a difference.

Please can someone give me a definative answer on whether this will fit or am i wasting my money.???

cheers :)

Yours will be an MPI ( Multi-Point-Injection ) basically its a more efficient way of adding fuel introduced by fiat to meet emmisions standards.

However at the same time they introduced the MPI they reworked many features including the Fuel tank so you will need an MPI tank.

( link would not open )

Btw get some pictures of the Sei up mines the same year :slayer:

Aside from an internal fuel filter which is removeable anyway, i dont think there is a difference between a tank for an SPI and a tank for an MPI

Im expecting to see different part numbers because of the MPI/SPI factor but physically they would be the same tank

I would say so long as its for a 1108 you would be fine regardless

ok here is an updated link that should work on Ebayhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380305254199&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:ITI have read other posts that say that the tank on all standard seicento's (Not Sporting) is pretty much the same from 1998 - 2003is there anything i should be aware of regarding differences in fuel tanks ???contacted fiat who seem to quote a completely different part number than the one that is on ALL of the parts you can find on Ebay.I really need some help with this one as im just confused.com ...

thanks AppleSei ... thats exactly what i wanted to hear :)

Dont take that as correct though, mine is just an opinion when someone said they had been reworked, id be very suprised if it had as the fuel tank physically is nothing to do with emissions, rather other parts associated around it wouldve been reworked i.e. exhaust system, CAT etc

As said be aware of the internal fuel filter, your wifes car will have one, whereas cars from 1998-oct 00 have an external fuel filter, it maybe worth asking some of these sellers on ebay for clarification reagrding that matter

It can be removed so dont really see it as an issue and if the tank is wrong you can just sell it back on ebay there is always a demand for them although an inconvenience to yourself

I also assume you have tried to get a new fuel tank under recall?

I have an '01 sporting with a fuel tank leak and was hoping that a cinq tank would fit mine!(can get a nearly new second hand one for a few quid!)
I havent properly investigated but the mounting points 'should' be identical across all the sei/cinq range, as would the fuel filler pipe.
Iirc, the only difference between models being the fuel pump/sender assembly but the hole in the top of the tank for it 'should' also be identical so dont see an issue!!!
Can someone clarify (cant afford to keep p**sing out petrol at these prices)!!:):):)

i have just been onto the ePER page and got the following infofuel tank for the sceicento has 2 typesFUEL TANK 46511894 M1 ,M2 51733839 M3 is there actually any difference in the 2 tanks ?oris it just the difference in the fuel filter location and pump bar size ?pretty much all the ebay and online sales pages list tank 46511894 as being compatable with ALL Seicento's from 98 - 2003 (not Sporting)so is this true ?

just thought i would say the mpi fuel pump and spi fuel pump are different. and attach to the tank different.

on a spi they drop in and a collar screwed on with loas of small bolts and on a mpi they drop in and one big collar screws down. so if you get the opposite to what you have get the appropriate fuel pump holder otherwise you wont be able to tie it down

Just a further updateePER webpage shows this info :-51733839 - FUEL TANK Availability: - Product orderable Family: AC01 - FUEL TANK Macro-family: A Discount code: B Minimum quantity per package: 1 Unit of measurement: Num Weight (grams): 5485 Listed price: 158.89 GBP Price including taxes: 186.70 GBP Product previously in use for: 51733839 FUEL TANK Substituted Substitutes 46558602 FUEL TANK - Replacement date:09/2003 Prod. code Description Min. qty Repl. Ratio 51733839 FUEL TANK 1 1/1 Does the above info mean that the Tank 46558602 WAS used and then Substituted for the 51733839 tank in 2003, therefore meaning that either could be used if the pump is swapped over ... ???just need clarification ... if poss :)

whats the difference in price?

the only differences i know of are different pipes on the top and different pump securing method (although mpi pumps are physicly identical to look at their just secured different)

Hi, I know there is a lot of posts now about fuel tanks (I posted one last night) but it is really confusing. I can't locate the part number anywhere that Fiat gave me. But I put my chassis number into EPER last night after helpful advice on here and found out my 1998 Sporting Abarth SPI has the tank part number 46511894 against it so now I am more confused as I've been told that this one is not suitable for sportings. Its all very confusing :(

its not the difference in price, but there is a big difference, its just not being able to find one easily that has that exact part number , without going to a dealer ... then you are talking silly money ...

Is there anyone out there that HAS fitted a fuel tank (46558602) to an MPI Fiat seicentio as a replacement for the official fiat part or " 51733839 " and had any issues or any successPLEASE .. please post a reply and say that it will all work fine ...or that no you indeed need to get a tank part 51733839 ...Just a bit of clarity please .... lol
