Hi there im new :) so please don't be harsh :p

First of all i have just purchased my first car which is a Fiat Seicento Sporting Abarth... or atleast thats what im told. The seller told me that everything is factory fitted by fiat but I am unsure.

The reasons I am unsure are becuase;
a) no insurance company (online) recognizes the "Abarth" edition.
b) Not sure if the tinted windows are aftermarket or not
c) you can clearly see the allen key's on the skirts and spoiler.

But however it does have all of the abarth goodies on the inside (incl headrests) so my question to you's are, is this a legit Abarth?

Thank you :)

the tints aren't standard
the way the skirts are mounted isnt standard. i would look to getting them removed, the holes filled and then properly refitted)
the spots aren't standard
the side indicators aren't standard
the abarth was only really bolt on parts anyway.its still a sporting underneath IYKWIM

Ok so it is not an abarth model, it is aftermarket parts added on? That is a huge dissapointment because with these mods my insurance is going to be over 3k a year :( so I reckon I will have to sell and buy another car or remove the modifications, can you recommend what would be cheaper?

Skirts, spoiler and alloys are all factory options so you won't need to declare them. The front spots definitely aren't standard, if you can get hold of standard foglights (ebay, etc) and replaced them you'll be ok. The tints are about the only thing you really ought to declare.
It may just be me being picky but the badge on the bonnet is the wrong style for that year of car, it may have just been swapped out but I'd be looking to make sure the car's not been in an accident and had the front end repaired/bonnet replaced.

I don't think Custard is saying that it isn't an Abarth, just that the tints aren't standard and the fixing for the sideskirts is a bodge.
Wheels, headrests, sideskirts etc are all Abarth.

My Abarth has the Scorpion logo on the bonnet in place of the FIAT badge and just under the boot lock.

But then most FIAT are built with what they had to hand at the time or what Mario or Luigi could find in the parts bins, so badge differences are minor.

Ok cheers guys,

I will look to having the tint removed (or replace the windows altogether) and that should hopefully bring the insurance down, also the guy i bought it from as put illegal blue neon just above the fog lights will that be hard to remove? looks like im in for a little day job if im going to be getting proper fogs and changing things :p Also the guy looked after this car very well (he was a valet) and told me he had replaced the badge because he didn't like the original, but surely a replaced badge wont affect insurance cost?

Will i need to take it to the local garage to get the side skirts fitted properly or should i be able to do it myself?

Thanks

The tints if they were legal might not alter your insurance, but you need to confirm they are legal then and tell the company, to find out.

The standard fogs are not really useful even in fog and if some one nudges you in parking bay the driver side fog can impale itself in the radiator and push the radiator off its mounts into the TDC sensor and oil pressure light sender.

Removing them is legal, i hope. Blanking plates if you dont like the debris getting to the rad and gearbox

I really don't want to be harsh but there is alot of things on that car that doesn't fit right.

It has the MPI sporting rub strips down the sides, I can kind of tell but it looks like the MPI interior too, and boot spoiler needs to be removed and refitted also. They might just be allen heads drilled and glued on but see if you can remove them, if they have threads then it will be drilled and tapped into the body which could be bad.

What is the year of registration for the car just out of curiosity? I have a feeling it's on a private plate.

Also a photo of the engine bay aswell please :D.

Thanks

Ok it is dark now and wont take a photo of the interior, i shall do that tomorrow in the daylight, but i have a photo of the engine bay from a couple weeks ago, Just out of curiosity why does the boot spoiler need to be refitted? Also MPI? what are you on about? And i do believe that they are drilled and tapped but again i will check tomorrow... and finally it is a W reg (2000) and is not a private plate (of that im aware...)

Here is the engine bay (sorry for quality)

I agree about the plate, mine is similar X*** RES so not likely to be a private plate. SPI = Single point injection (which is what you and I have). MPI = Multi point injection, these are the later models.
With regards the spoiler and reason for refitting - if the screws are tapped into the bodywork I think people are concerned about water ingress, and subsequent rusting.

Oh ok thanks for clearing that up, I will look into having the spoiler and side skirt refitted just in case it does cause damage to the car :) Just another quick question for in general, the pedals are a bit small do you think extensions would fit in without them being "too close" they are fine at the moment but slightly bigger pedals would be nice :D
