Hello all,
My 2000 W reg Seicento Sporting presented me with a yellow "key code" light yesterday. The light didn't switch off so I switched the engine off and then went to restart it. The starter motor didn't turn and I just got this shotgun noise. After checking the battery and bump starting it to get it home, I have today replaced the starter motor. I was sure that this was the problem but the 'shot-gunning' persists and it will not start.

I'm gutted because I was sure I'd sorted the problem. A mechanic I know has suggested ignition switch?

Any suggestions please would be greatly appreciated.

No actually I haven't. How do I do this? And why would that make a difference?

Circuit needs a supply and return. If the return is compromised (fairly common) then the circuit will not complete.

Do both ends of the battery one, and both ends of the gearbox one.

Remove, clean, abrade, refit, tighten fully, cover with grease.

Cheers

D

Sorry to come back again.
So, I'm to try that process with battery terminals and what else exactly?
Thank you.

It wasn't earths and neither was it battery connections. It was a dodgy connection between ECU and starter motor. So, for anyone with the same problem try that one.

Thanks to rallycinq for the advice though.
