Hi!
I'm actually a Fiat 127 hobbyist but I found out that cinquecento owners have been dealing rather a lot with these 1.2 and 1.4 16v engines.
So my questions is about weather or not I can put 1.4 16v crank and pistons to a 1.2 16v block. What differences are there that could stop this from happening?
The cc difference mostly comes from increased stroke ( 78.90<>84.00 mm ) but also from a 1.2mm bore difference ( 70.80<>72.00 mm ) as 1.4 has a bit bigger pistons.
I heard that the blocks ( atleast in some year-models ) are the same, just bored this 1.2mm bigger or smaller. But are they?
How about other parts like engine heads, if 1.4 has bigger valves or otherwise better flowing head I would like to use this also in my project, attached to 1.2 block.
The reason I'm asking this dumb question is because here in Finland the law says I can only register max 90hp engine to a Fiat 127. And a stock 1.4 has 95 so it won't do.. But the law also says that if you register for.. let say 1.2 80hp engine, you can increase the cc in this registered engine afterwards without horsepower regulations
... So I've found a loophole from the law that I'd like to use if it's possible
I already have a 2001 1.2 16v engine but I can't find 1.4 16v crankshaft anywhere, only complete engines and they are relatively expensive in the case I can't use any of it's parts.
So I might buy a complete engine but I'd have to be sure beforehand that the parts fill fit.
Could anyone help me with this?
Thanks!
