the cinq will no longer suit my needs.... its sei time :D (well about 6 weeks time)

all i want is a checklist of the commen problems because your all very clever people and know what your talking about...

so the obvious ones are:

keys - make sure if its pre 2000 it has a red key, post 2000 it has the number 2 or nothing on the key

handbrake - ensure its at least working when you drive out of the garage cos it prolly wont when you get home d'oh

early model check for the fuel tank recall (is that still on btw? and when does it go upto?)

what are the other important checks - specifically mechanical

- excessive vibration in heating system on high speeds
- head gasket
- take on a test drive to make sure the ECU is good. You'll know if it isn't and needs resetting. They tend to be sluggish. I've driven 4 Seicento Sportings of standard spec and similar age/milage and they all had different performance levels.
- nothing else i can think of

if the ECU needs resetting how can you do it? is that just using the red key?

cheers btw :D keep em comming i need to know if im gonna get a good car :)

pre 2000 arent red keys

if the key has a triangle and 2 symbol on it then a red key is not needed - mine was reset without a red key, needed to re-start it, so i am basing my comments on that, please wait for confirmation before you attempt to reset the ecu

to rest the ecu, people have just disconnected the battery, for a period of time, i personally havent done this

as i understand it nothing much, the sei is just the cinq qith a pretty frock... just newer

are there any more tips??

youd think so wouldnt you... but im b*ggered if i can find any

I've owned both. The Sei is basically a Cinq with curves knocked in to it. Open the boot and bonnet though and every groove and bolt hole is identical. lol.

The only advantages of the Sei really are that they are newer so they cost less to maintain (in theory), and its ride is ever so slightly marginally better. The MPI has better throttle response i've found too.

The Cinq has more passenger side leg room (y) lol! but yes they are identical pretty much and yes the MPI does have better throttle response. I've driven my best mates sei a few times and he's driven my cinq, we've come the conclusion that they are practically identical when it comes to driving.
:D :)
If want to test a cinq sporting jus pm me! lol! :p
