One of the headlights on my cinq seems to have too much movement in it

How are they held in place? i think its just a matter of tightening a bolt, but before i have a proper look (and its too dark now  ) i'd like to know what i am looking for :)

its the drivers side if that helps and its a cinq sporting,

cheers,

Have you recently changed a bulb?

What tends to happen is the little claw pieces inside the vertical adjuster (the top one) go brittle and fall off especially when you put any presure on the bulb electrical connector, then you end up with no way of adjusting it. If you're clever you could come up with a way of springing it back so it rests against the adjuster.

I'll try to explain it better....from the front when i push the headlamp and the indicator there is a bit of give...it pushes in about a half an inch or so.

would this be the adjuster then?

i just had to put a new nut on the bolt that holds my headlight in. when i was up at sies getting the new lights, we dropped the nut - so took the spare one off my old lights. Then the other week, i was changing my headlight bulb with the whole headlight out (so as not to damage the posh electric adjustors :D ) and then when i was putting it back on, ping - dropped the nut again

If anyones wondering, they're 5mm nuts :)

I just had a better look at the whole situation...

Its not the nuts arc, just the balls :)

Both ball and socket things are out. One of the clips is still on the back, but not clipped in and the other is missing completely.

I think the previous owner has used some sort of sealent to hold it in place, and i can't push the ball into the clip at the moment.

So...I think if i cut the sealent out, then fix the ball's into the holes ( ;) ) will it work?, and more importantly can it be done?

cheers,

Joe

Anyone?

Also, will it fall out without the two clips in?

With the headlight also being held by the indicator and the nut I doubt it would go walkies unless you subjected it to some F1 style G-force.

Time for new clips, dunno if you can buy them though or if they are part of the front slam panel.

The top yellow clips are brokern on both my headlights. they are just crap after time. I need to get round to getting some more. You dont notice them move till you go round a corner. lol. But luckily the badboy bonnet holds them in nicely. :p

I will probably go to the scrappy this week and see if i can pick anything up....They had a few cinqs in there last time, i wonder if any other fiats have these clips? :chin:
