Fiat heads I wouldn't say are badly casted but are very restricted in my opinion. Removal of the cast marks and opening the chambers up a little will improve flow nicely.

Also Do a port match exhaust side using a genuine fiat gasket .

i intend to

one thing i have noticed is how restrictive the intake manifold is especially the plastic upper section, i had a search but there were no custom made ones and you cant really port plastic

could anyone point me in the direction of a company that can supply piston rings and big end bearings ?

the engine build so far is costing just under £115 which aint too bad but theres other bits to get

remember, new rings = hone the block else they'll never bed in.

made a bit of progress cleaning today

pistons nearly cleaned, would give them a polish if i can find the paste and thumb sore from getting into the valve gaps


difference between dirty and a quick clean


wire brushed a section of the block wondering wether to paint it or not



allways loved nice clean parts

anyone got any personal recommendation's for de-coking the head, i was thinkng sand blasting but that's just daft

I bought a cheap Dremel clone from Argos and some stainless steel wire wheels from Maplin. Cleaned the cylinder head a treat. Defo need goggles though.

that's what im getting, not a bad price with the flexi

personally i don't like ordering off the internet like eurocarparts made a order just over £100 this morning and my tracking No doesn't exist some companies are just jokes

made a little bit of progress today, cleaned and painted the sump along with the metal water pipe from the block in black and part of the block in red :yum:

taking the cams and casing in col today to strip and clean to get rid of as much of the old oil and dirt

as for parts wise getting hold of eurocarparts is crap like im using smoke signals :bang:

stripped the cam carriers down today to find pure horror, cam bearings were completely shot so chucked that into the scrap metal bin:bang:

on the other hand pulled one off another car for £30 so isnt that bad

euro car parts had an error on there end so no parts for me this weekend

cant find dam cable, so no pictures atm

on the replacement cam carrier today £30 aint bad, full of oil too so hopefully its all good for when i strip it on monday

wondering if to get the head skimmed to increase the CR slightly for a bit more oomph but the valves seem so far out, the mating surface is ok but some damage around a oil passage and lots of little marks from the HG

gotta get myself a short-shifter, like stirring porridge compared to the panda

Just get a standard skim as the comp ratio is high standard.
