just wondering if anyone knows about the cinqs differences between the 899 version and the 1108 as i want to do an engine conversion as i have the 899 atm. I know that the 1108 has a rev counter so does the 899 have the wiring already in the car or will i have to get the wiring out of a 1108 and wire it into my car? Also in the back of the clocks are the connections different or do they have the same laout. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Im not fitting a rev counter to my 899cc clocks im putting a new sporting set of clocks into my car with a new engine. All i wanted to know was if the 899 will have the same set of wiring as the sporting clocks or will i have to get the wiring out of the sporting cinq thanks.

its cheaper to buy a sporting, as you have to change;
engine
gearbox
driveshafts
engine mountings
engine loom section
exhaust (899 smaller bore)
not to mention sporting is 20mm lower and has ARB as standard

also i hope you were going to tell your insurance about this modification

they wanted over £220 a month off me in a 899 and im a 17 year old student so id hate to see what a modified one is

Nope keep the 899 loom, extend the wires to the plugs.

They are:

Plugs to the throttle body
Plug to oil pressure switch

Rest just plug and play :) and i didn't fit a ARB but i did lower the car.

My cinq already has been lowered 40mm, remus exhuast sparco front strut, i have a complete engine with gearbox, driveshaft engine mounts i have all the stuff just waiting for my no claims for this year of driving then we can start. I have a mate who is breaking a cinq so if i did need parts i can get them off him for cheap. i wont probaly tell the insurance company cos i cant afford it ill just hav to drive carefully and not get caught hopefully. cheers for your help

My insurance premiums for this year is £1250 a year on the 899 cinq but no modifications declared. After my no claims for this year hopefully it should lower a tad bit. If it lowers quite alot then i may declare the engine swap but if its still high ill just say i didnt know that the engione was in their. My future plans are a tricker 40mm, gsr induction kit, magnecor ht leads in the upcoming months.

buy a cheaper car if u cant afford a cinq... the reason the prices are high is because they obviously see your age/where you live as a high risk...

i sugest 205 or reliant robin

it doesnt matter if you say you dont know about the engine the insurance company will still void your cover... no cover means fixed penalty at the very least if the police decide to do you for it then if any accident is your fault then you could be looking at driving without due care and attention or worse... guess what another fixed penalty... soooo 6 points 120 quid fine. which will mean even higher insurance prices both for you and the rest of us...
if your local plod also want to, since your car will be uninsured, they can seize and destroy your car... im 25 and insurance with mods is still too expensive for me to insure, so my ride is completely standard.

how would you like 8 points on your licence?

thats a fair comment as i dont want points on my license. But for me to buy a new car is riduclous. I will look into the insurance costs if i were to insure it as a 1.1 sporting. thanks for the grilling aswell about the points on the license u make it sound like its the worst crime in the world i only want a bit more power lol.

You are already running uninsured as you haven't declared the mods on the car at the moment.

Its people like you who make insurance so expensive for everyone who does declare their mods.

IMHO you are not welcome here.

Cheers

Don't you only need six points in your first three years to have your licence revoked, instead of twelve?

Also, if he hasn't gone to far breaking the Sporting it would probably be cheaper to insure it as standard then to insure a modified 899 with Sporting bits transplanted into it. Also could use compare the meerkat, etc to find cheaper insurance year on year if it's standard, plus claim money back from quidco and the like, handy at your age with your premiums.

That said, my cousin swapped the bits from his rotten diesel land rover into a clean previously petrol-powered shell, updated the v5c and has insured it as a standard diesel again - apparently it's fine as if checked everything would be the same as a diesel LR as it left the factory.

Does anyone read my longer posts this far? blah blah blah wheeeeeee!
