Technical Punto Gt brakes - cost?

I recently got a pair of rear caliper off an alfa for £60 posted. Just some guides for ya.

But i think between 40-80 is a fair price. depending on conditions obv.

You want Punto GT 97 onwards as they use a slightly bigger pads.

i used standard sei handbrake cable and angle grinded the spring and washer off and filed the ring into a square to fit through the loop on the calliper. works fine.

Just paid £40 for a pair of 155 1.8 front calipers and sliders.

Now in the process of de-rusting & de-greasing the buggers.

I think it was around £40 for a set of fronts last time I bought some.

Remember as they fit loads of different cars shop around, they will be cheaper from a marea or bravo for example than from a Punto GT. Also go for the later callipers from the ABS cars they have a bigger pad area and are much better.

There is an ancient tread somewhere, may even be in the FAQ as to which car are suitable donors

where do people get these things so cheap :p. MY UT front cost me £30. My rear cost me £60. then + plates + disc and pads etc etc...

The whole conversion (front only) will be around the £100 mark

not true my fronts full conversion only ost £20 pluss fluid. it really does depend wjast car you find, my callipers from my scrappy were 10 quid for the pair and there were brand new disks on the car too.

my mate got a set for 50 quid all in too so there are deals out there.

you will get the calipers from a good scrappy for 20 quid each. but like it says above dont ask for gt ones they will think they are worth more, all this list have the same calipers
Alfa Romeo
Alfa 145/146 1.6 3/97 onwards
Alfa 155 1.8-2.0 8v - TD 92 onwards
Alfa 145/146 1.7

Fiat
Punto GT 6/97 onwards
Brava/Bravo 1.8/1.9 D/TD
Barchetta 3/97 onwards
Tipo 2.0 ie 93 onwards
Tempra 2.0 ie/1.9TD 90 onwards
Punto GT up to 6/97
Barchetta up to 3/97

Lancia
Dedra 2.0ie 89 onwards

its not worth fitting scrappy discs an pads and dangerous to fit scrappy pads, most wont even let you have them. always best to just get calipers from scrappy then new discs n pads from a motor factors

I found Merea ones the cheapest, there is a more comprehensive list somewhere

yeh ive herd before marea ones are the cheapest, mine were from the diesel estate weekend, there the later ones (silver spring type thing on outside of caliper) so you have the bigger pad in them and the rears are a tad bigger than the unos too.
